CHAPTER 3: THE PLAN OF PENTANANT

Jack now planned. On his first day means, his first day after his suspension
he requested Alex for a leave of three days.
‘Oh, I think I should have suspended you for 10 days. Then it would have been fine.’ Said Alex, ‘By the way Jack why you need a leave? Are you going somewhere?’ asked Alex
‘Yes sir to Pentanant village.’ replied Jack
‘Pentanant but why?’ asked Alex
‘My family has fixed someone from there?’ replied Jack
‘Fixed someone? Means?’ asked Alex
‘They have fixed someone there for my marriage, I have to go.’ replied Jack
‘What is her name?’ asked Jack chuckling
‘I don’t know’ replied Jack
‘Ok, Goodluck’
‘I will be leaving for Pentanant after two days sir’
‘Okay’
Though Jack told Alex that he would leave after two days but he would leave the same day only he told Alex about it. He told him that he would be leaving two days later because he thought Alex will kill Sholto. Jack was sure Alex acted as he did not care but, in his core, he has a fear that Jack will meet Sholto to gather information about his past life. Only James knew about this plan on Jack. So, James also accompanied him. Also, Jack had also told a lie about his marriage. His main intention was only to meet Sholto Woakes. James and Jack left for Pentanant the same day. They decided to stay there in a small inn. They tried to find out Sholto’s home. They finally found it but it was not a house it was a two-storey bungalow. They knocked on the door. A sound of an old man came from the other side, ‘Who is it?’
‘We are Jack and James Cook.’
‘I ask what is your purpose of coming here?’
‘We are from the police sir, your life is in danger.’
‘I hate police, go back, if I die, I die, I have seen death many times now I don’t care’
‘Sir, please we need to talk’ said Jack
‘How many are you’ asked the old man
‘Two’
‘Then talk to each other’
‘Sir please stop joking not only yours’ many people’s life are at risk’
The door opened, there stood an old man in faded blue shirt and brown trousers. He was too old to stand straight. He stood with a stick for support. His eyebrows and hair were as white as snow.
‘Sir, do you know anything about Alex?’ asked Jack
‘I know him he was my colleague, but what exactly you want to know about Mr. Alex Ferguson?’
‘We want to know about his case on The Bloodhound?’ asked James
‘No we can’t start like this let me tell you about his backstory first, Alex has a complex backstory. He had grown up in a wealthy family and had always been fascinated by the criminal underworld. As he progressed through the police ranks, he started to see the corrupt underbelly of law enforcement, where officers turned a blind eye to criminal activity in exchange for bribes and favours. One day, Alex received a tip-off from a criminal informant about a powerful gang, The Bloodhounds that was operating in the city.
             He decided to go undercover to infiltrate the gang and gather evidence to bring them to justice. At first, he was successful, and he managed to gain the trust of the gang's leader, a man named Marco. However, as Alex spent more time with the gang, he started to see things from their perspective. He saw how the police department was rife with corruption and how the justice system was failing the people it was supposed to protect. He started to sympathize with the gang's mission, which was to provide a sense of justice that the legal system had failed to deliver. As Alex became more entangled with the gang, he started to take on a leadership role, using his police connections to provide them with inside information and to help them evade capture.
           The gang consisted of individuals who had been marginalized by society - immigrants, people of colour, and those from low-income backgrounds. They had turned to a life of crime because they felt that it was their only option for survival in a world that had failed them. The justice system had repeatedly failed to protect them or give them a fair chance, and they saw themselves as providing a sense of justice that the legal system had failed to deliver.
He formed a close bond with Marco, who he saw as a kindred spirit, and together they formed a powerful alliance and no one as able to knew all this stuff. Alex killed his inspector secretly and he was promoted to inspector rank himself and got a powerful hold in the police department.’ said Sholto
Both Jack and James were spellbound to listen their eyes became big, they got goosebumps.
‘How did you know all this stuff?’ asked Jack
‘I observed.’ told Sholto
‘How?’
‘ Just like you and your friend look very good friend, I and Alex were similar I understood his intention, he also offered me money to join him but I refused, I soon sensed danger around me and resigned and came here to count my last days of life’
‘Okay, bit why didn’t you told anyone about Alex?’ asked Jack
‘I tried but I was stopped by Alex, he threatened me that if I open my mouth, he would kill my wife, also do you think everyone would believe me?’
‘You have any children?’ asked Jack
‘Nope’
‘Wait if you didn’t told anyone about this in the past why did you told it to us now?’ asked Jack suspiciously
‘Because she is dead.’ said James
‘Sir you have to run away with us, Alex knows we are here, but does not know we are here to meet you but he can kill you if he starts suspecting,’ said Jack
‘No leave me here’ replied the old man
‘But why sir?’
‘I have no work just living on my mansion and just manage my poultry house and farming lands, I am counting my last days I have no desire to live anymore I have seen enough of this world, but if you take me away from here Alex’s suspicion will be confirmed. So, leave me here to die in peace.’
Jack and James were surprised by his bravery and intelligence. They did not utter a single more word and left that place.
‘So what now Jack?’ asked James
‘We have gathered so much information but what will we do of it.’ asked James impatiently
‘I have recorded what the old man had said and took a video to by my phone’ replied Jack
‘But how?’
‘You probably did not notice but I had kept my phone in the pocket of my shirt in such a way that the camera can be seen. We have all the evidence!’ replied Jack
‘Excellent Jack! Excellent! You are the most intelligent person I have ever worked with now till date.’
‘Now let us go back to Arnold’ said Jack
‘Yeah! What are we waiting for!’ said James delightfully.
