Little Kids Annoy Me

We had family over that night. My Aunt Clarice, Uncle Gareth and my two cousins, Skylar and Keeley. Skylar was a very hyperactive ten year old boy and Keeley was a very prissy nine year old girl. They were really annoying when they are on their own, let alone together. They came running into the house and jumped straight onto the sofa, disturbing me.

"Hey Clark! Mum said that we could play on the computer today! Can you show us? Please, please, please, please, please!!" They said in unison, bounding over to me. I sighed.

"No." I breathed. Their faces changed from bright and smiley to ones of shock. They ran to their mother.

"MUUUUUUUUM!! Clark's being mean to us!" They babbled in whiny voices. Their mother sighed a bigger sigh than mine. She pried them off of her clothes and told them to stop acting spoiled. I smiled a little. She went into the kitchen with the kids and left me alone with Uncle Gareth.

"You okay? You don't look too good." He sat down beside me on the sofa. I sighed; I was sick of being asked that question.

"I'm fine." I got up and went to my room. I shut the door and leaned against it.

I never want kids if they're going to be like that. I shut my eyes and slid down the door. A headache was forming. A bad one.

I let the dull pain fall into the background as sleep crept up on me.

Grotesque images flashed into my field of vision. Bodies being ripped apart, throats being slit, hands plunged deep into a child's bleeding chest. Shadows enveloped the images, leaving only a blank space. Someone tapped me on the shoulder. I turned around to see the man I had seen in so many dreams before. This time he was wearing a black suit and a black tie with a white shirt underneath.

"Clark, you've done something which I do not like." He spoke with a hint of anger. He was staring into my eyes, like he was trying to burn two holes into the back of my skull.

"Huh?" I was quite confused. He closed his eyes and exhaled slowly.

"Don't act dumb with me, boy. You are aware of what you have done." His eyes opened and his irises were deep red. My breath caught in my throat. "You sent one of my minions away. Usually, that is punished by eternal damnation, but we need you here, so I'll just tell you this." His cleared his throat and stepped towards me. "If you do that again, you will be dealing with my brother, and I can assure you he is much worse than me when in a bad mood." He said all of this with a very serious, very low voice. It rattled me a bit. "Now, go back and...enjoy...the time with your family while you can."

He dismissed me with a wave of his hand and my eyes snapped open, bringing me back to reality.
