(STONE'S POV)
After he'd come out of the shower, he told her that they should just sit for a while. Taylor had complied and now they sat on the couch reading. It was a peaceful night, the fire crackled loudly and the smell of baking cookies filled the cabin. They had found the package in the back of the cupboard past all the Mac N cheese boxes. Stone had calmed himself down in the shower and had come out of it a new man, he'd carried Taylor's mug into the living room and set it down for her. He had grabbed her a blanket and had even willinging snuggled with her as the time ticked away to nightfall. A loud bang suddenly sounded from the front door. Stone jumped up quickly,
"Get to the bedroom now!" He shouted urgently.
"But Stone!" Taylor said, shrugging her shoulders.
"Go!" Taylor did so, Stone grabbed his gun and cocked it. Then with quiet steps he went to the door. He grabbed the handle and whipped it open. The face staring out at him suddenly familiar.
"Danka!" He said as he caught her before she fell
"Help me." She said weakly as blood poured out of her stomach.
"Taylor! Taylor!" He shouted. Running feet could be heard and then a gasp
"Oh my god! Is she okay?"
"I don't know. Close the door, quickly!" He said as he lifted Danka into his arms and carried her to his room. He set her down and brushed the snow from her face. She was cold and looked at him with tears in her eyes.
"Need me to get anything?" Taylor asked."Yes, warm water, and towels."
"Okay." She left and Stone turned back towards Danka, she smiled a little"Y-you said my name."
"So?""You said we were going to pretend you didn't know me."
"I was. I-I wanted too, but the more I thought about it, the more I thought that Taylor has the right to know that you're her sister. So, we are going to go with whatever story you think of." Danka's eyes closed and a peaceful smile appeared on her lips."I'm home now." Danka whispered as Taylor rushed back into the room.
"Here." She said as she shoved the things into his hands. "Oh and I took out the cookies." Stone rose and turned to her
"Stay with her for a moment. I need to get something."
"Sure." Stone left and Taylor walked to the woman. Her breath was thready and her skin pale. She went to the bowl of water and dipped a towel in, then she placed it on her brow.
"You'll be okay." Taylor said with hopefulness in her voice. Stone came back in just then and took a seat on the bed.
"Has she talked?" He asked Taylor, looking intently at her.
"No. Is she going to be okay?" She asked as she mopped the young woman's brow."I think so. I will have to patch her up. Will you hold her hand?"
"Oh um I suppose." She grasped the woman's cold soft hand. Then Stone cut off her shirt to where the wound was visible. Taylor gulped at the sight of the wound. She hated anything medical and blood related. She turned her away as he did his thing. When he was done, he tucked the woman in, then pulled Taylor out into the living room. It was now time to tell her everything. Something he was fearful of doing.
"There is something I need to tell you"
"What is it?"
"You must promise not to try and leave afterwards." Taylor chuckled nervously
"Why would I leave?"
"It's not funny. What I am to tell you is the truth behind who you are." Finally! Taylor thought.
"Um okay, I'm ready." She sat crossed legged and turned her attention towards him
"Long ago, my father was and still is head of a Secret Spy Ring where he trains people to do bad things. He has them infiltrate high paying jobs like FBI, CIA, Banks, Corporate organizations, NASA, The white house."
"That doesn't seem too bad. I mean it is. But people spy all the time."
"Just wait, it gets worse."
"Hard to believe it does." She said as he picked at her shirt. Stone sighed"The story goes like this: On November thirteenth, nineteen ninety nine, a little girl was born to Ivan and Alyona Petrov. She was born into the head leader of the second top rival Spy Ring."
"Interesting. I still don't get what part the daughter played in the story."
"If you stop interrupting we'll get there."
"Sorry.""The mother died at birth, the father, angry that she was a girl, decided to train her how to be like a boy when she got older."
"That's not fair." She retorted
"Will you please stop interpreting?"
"Sorry. Please go on." Stone shook his head
"My father found out about her and he didn't want her to rise up and be the next head of the Spy Ring so he took her and brought her to the United states. Once there, he pretended that he had found the little girl in the streets to gain access to the hospital. Once she was admitted, they allowed him to bring her to the place where they keep all the babies. He found one that looked sort of like the child and so he switched them out."
"How terrible. So where was the girl originally from?"
"Russia.""So he took the russian girl to the united states and the girl from here is now in russia?" She questioned.
"Yes." Stone breathed out huffily.
"Did you ever find out what happened to them?""To one of them."
"Which one?"
"The Russian girl."
"What happened to her?""That's the thing Taylor. The girl he took from Russia, is you."
"Me! So I'm not American!" She asked.
"Yes, that's right." Stone said with a nod"No no that can't be true! You're lying to me, trying to get under my skin." Taylor's face was pale and her eyes were wild.
"I know it's a lot to take in, but there is someone here to help ease all of that. Her name is Danka and she has your birth certificates and there are blood samples and photos. She is the one who just came through our door." He watched as Taylor furrowed her brows.
"But who is she to me!? What is my real name!? What is your real name!? She began to sob as she curled up in a ball. He felt bad for her, he knew it would all be too much, but this was what she wanted. Answers to all her questions. Stone touched her shoulder and she jerked back, he sighed and then answered one of her questions,"My real name is Alexei Volvsky and I am a Russian operative."
