“Hyunsuk’s mother?” Jihoon repeated. Jihoon then quickly bowed. “Hello, Mrs Choi. My name is Park Jihoon,”

“Follow me,” Mrs Choi said. Jihoon didn’t know what to do but he followed her anyway. Mrs Choi took him to somewhere less crowded at the corner of the hall. She looked around before he turned back to Jihoon. She looked at Jihoon from head to toe. “So. This is the Park Jihoon?”

“Yes. I am Park Jihoon,” Jihoon said. He didn’t know what Hyunsuk has told his mother about him. Or what Hyunsuk’s mother actually know about him. Either way, it make him quite nervous. He doesn’t want to leave any bad impression to Hyunsuk’s mother. But still, he is not really sure what to say or how to act.

“Your work?”

“I’m working in the publishing industry. I’m a web comic’s editor,” Jihoon answered.

“Annual income?”

“Definitely less than Hyunsuk,” Jihoon said. He started to feel like he’s going to fail; if this by chance a test. If it’s Ryujin or Yoshinori, they would definitely answer it proudly and will leave a better impression on Mrs Choi. Jihoon lowered his head.

“Chin up,” Mrs Choi said. Jihoon raised his head. “I didn’t ask you to belittle you or anything. I’m asking because I am genuinely curious,”

“Okay,”

“How long have you known Hyunsuk?” Mrs Choi asked.

“We first met during the first year of high school. We’re not that close back then but we’re friends, I guess?” Jihoon said.

“I’ve been wanting to meet you for a long time already. I know that Hyunsuk suddenly wanted to switch from being an athlete to researcher because he had someone he wanted to see again in Seoul after we moved here. He has been always asking me to go back to Seoul during vacations or holidays but because of work, we couldn’t bring him there back then. He stopped asking about it but he asked if he can live alone far away from us. I told him that if he can when he’s financially stable that he doesn't need us to support him anymore. And he finally did,” Mrs Choi said. “You know how I wish that it was a girl?”

Jihoon swallowed his saliva. He didn’t like the situation he is in now. It makes him feel that he really didn’t deserve Hyunsuk. But he loved Hyunsuk a lot. He wanted to be with Hyunsuk. How should he tell this to Mrs Choi?

“When he came back to Seoul after 10 years, I asked my best friend, who's a doctor, to take care of Hyunsuk if he ever needed her. Hyunsuk has trouble to sleep. He needs to take medicine for him to be able to sleep. But it seems like he didn’t need it as soon as he moved back there,” Mrs Choi said. “It’s you, right? His medicine?”

“I guessed so,” Jihoon said.

“Thank you,” Mrs Choi said. Jihoon frowned his eyebrows a bit because he’s not too sure on what he just heard. “You know. It’s me. The reason behind his trauma. He’s not good with a room without any lights. He can’t fall asleep if that place has no lights at all. He used to depend on sleeping pills a lot especially when he's stressed. It always makes me worried. I don’t know who you are but Ryujin told me that you’re his housemate slash lover,”

“Yes. I am Hyunsuk’s house mate and lover. I’m sorry for not introducing myself earlier. I know I’m lacking a lot but let me be with your son. I love your son with all of my heart. I promised you that I will make your son happy and I will cherish him all I could,” Jihoon said. He bowed to Mrs Choi. “Please don’t ask me to break up with Hyunsuk. I can’t live without him. I need him in my life,”

“He really gets himself a funny guy as a lover,” Mrs Choi giggled. “I won’t ask you to leave him, Park Jihoon. You don’t have to be too dramatic about it. I just wanted to thank you for staying with Hyunsuk. Hyunsuk might look like he doesn’t care about anything and carefree. But deep inside, he’s a very sensitive kid. He might not show it but he easily gets hurt at the same time, he’s really good at concealing what he’s actually feeling. It’s sometimes hard to read him. But I hope you can bear with him,”
