the dinner
kang y/n
"i wanted to apologize for the other night, y/n, i wasn't expecting to meet my soulmate." felix smiles sincerely, grabbing chaesua's hand. she looks back at him in awe.
"it's okay, i wouldn't have met minho if you and chae hadn't met." i replied smiling.
"and you still say he's not your soulmate?" chaesua asks. "you're unbelievable y/n." she rolls her eyes.
"i've already met my soulmate, there's still someone out there for y/n" minho interjects.
"maybe if she believed in soulmates." chaesua scoffs. "how can you see what happened with felix and i, and still not believe it?"
"it was just a coincidence." i say confidently. chan, who has been mostly quiet clears his throat.
"what is it? do you believe other people have soulmates, but not you?" he asks, shocking half the table with his sudden outburst.
"w-well no, i just think they like each other. call it soulmates if you want i guess..." i trail off. i watch as chan tenses up. at this point we're staring at each other.
"well yuna is my soulmate." chan says, almost forced. minho instantly squeezes my thigh, the pain in my chest causing me to lean forward slightly. chan watches intently as i break eye contact with him, i can almost see a smirk forming on his face. "what was that?" he asks, fake concern laced in his voice, as if he knows exactly what that was.
"i need to go to the restroom." i say quickly, pushing minho's hand off my thigh. i rush towards the bathroom, breathing heavily, trying to calm down from the pain.
"you need to try harder." felix's deep voice sounds from behind me.
"what?" i breathe out.
"he knows you're feeling the pains, you need to act like you genuinely don't know what they are. chan is smart, if he finds out what we're doing he's never going to give in." felix gives me a serious look.
"o-okay... i'll try harder."
"good, let's go. follow my lead." he walks back to the table, me close behind. "i think y/n needs to leave." felix announces, earning a concerned glare from minho. "her stomach is suddenly hurting, she think she may be sick." he adds. i nod, clutching onto my stomach.
"sorry guys, it just hit me out of nowhere." i frown.
"oh no! y/n! i can walk you back to the hotel!" chaesua stands up, putting her hands on my shoulder.
"no, i got her." minho wraps his hands around my waist. out of the corner of my eye i can see chan doubling over slightly. his eyebrows furrowing.
"wait." chan says, causing everyone's heads to swivel in his direction. "i've got some medicine for a stomach ache in my car, if you want it." he looks up at me. i remember felix telling me he is smart. he's trying to see if i will decline it.
"really? that would be great." i respond, a slight rasp in my voice. chan exhales. he stands up, walking over to me.
"come on, i'll take you." he motions for minho to let go of me, he obliges, chan's hand taking minho's spot around my waist. he leads me away from the table towards a parking lot in the back of the shop. "sudden stomach pain, huh?" he comments as i lean into him pretending to be in pain.
"yeah... i had a few drinks from the hotel before coming here, maybe that's it." i lie. i hear him snicker.
"drinks? for what?"
"courage." i accidentally blurt. immediately cursing myself.
"what do you need courage for?" i can hear his smirk, he think's he's got me.
"being around minho... he makes my heart flutter..." chan almost stops in his tracks. "are you okay?" i ask instantly. he nods. the rest of the walk to his car was silent. he opens the passenger side door and commands me to sit. i see the side door filled with various products, likely from yuna. the pain kicks up once more.
"you seriously don't know where this pain is coming from?" he asks as he pulls out a bottle of pills from the backseat.
"probably the drinks, like i said." i continue with my lie. i smile as he hands me two pills and a mini bottle of water. he smiles painfully at me as he squats down next to the car. i think it's working.
"well those should help, we can stay here until they kick in." he eyes me suspiciously. i look at the two white pills in my hand, trying not to hesitate i throw them in my mouth. i begin to open the water bottle to swallow the pills when chan stops me. "stop." he demands. i look at him confused. "take the damn pills out of your mouth." i furrow my eyebrows and reluctantly remove the pills. "you're serious?" he asks.
"what do you mean?" i ask. he groans.
"yuna is my girlfriend." he states. the pain shoots through my whole body this time i couldn't stop the visible reaction i had. chan drops his head down. after a while he looks back up at me, seemingly expecting me to say something. "do you get it yet?" he asks instead. i slowly shake my head, confused. he groans again. he takes the pills from my hand and throws them to the side, he then grabs my wrist and plops my hand on his chest. i try to protest but he holds it there sternly. "tell me you don't believe in soulmates."
"huh?"
"tell me you don't believe in soulmates." he repeats.
"uh... i don't believe in soulmates." as soon as the words leave my mouth i feel his heart race, and his grip on my wrist tightens as he struggles to hold himself in the crouched position in front of me. "are you okay?" i ask worried at his pained expression.
"don't you get it?" he says after finally calming down and catching his breath, he removes my hand and looks into my eyes. "watch." he commands. "whenever you say you don't believe in soulmates, i get pains, similar to the ones you get when i say..." he trails off. he places his hand on my thigh. "sorry."
"for-"
"yuna is my girlfriend." i double forward, feeling sick to my stomach at the pain that shoots through my body. chan pats my back and waits for me to calm down. "do you see?"
"what does this mean?" i play dumb. for the first time since i met him, his eyes seemed to hold no anger, they looked so soft. his entire face looked soft. i subconsciously reach my hand forward and run my fingers along his jawline. he seems to lean into my touch. i pull away. "sorry... i don't know why i did that..." i apologize. chan smiles. he actually smiles at me.
"you're my soulmate, y/n."
