it worked
kang y/n
unsure if finally giving in would be okay, i decide to keep playing dumb. mostly out of fear that he would snap out of it and go back to denying the truth.
"we can't be..." i say looking into his eyes. he groans in pain. "sorry..." i add. "it just doesn't make sense."
"these pains aren't enough to make you believe?" he asks. i stay silent unsure of how to respond, still too afraid he would snap out of it. "look, i didn't want to believe it either, i loved yuna-" my pained expression cuts him off. "sorry... but it's true. i've seen her having soulmate pains, but i ignored it for my own good. now that i'm getting them too i feel like it's stupid to keep ignoring the facts."
"convince me." i say after a while. he stays silent, looking at the ground seemingly thinking of a way to convince me. he looks up to me, i can almost see his eyes sparkle, i was sure mine were doing the same to him. he spoke.
"i believe we all have a destiny, from the moment we are born it's written in the stars, our whole life. your starwriting crossed with mine and i can only hope that our stars become one." he speaks almost poetically. i felt a weight lift off my chest, as if all troubles i've ever had have gone. chan seems to notice this, his smile growing wider along with mine.
"holy shit... i have a soulmate..." i finally give in for the first time, at least as far as chan knows. it worked. chan squeezes my hand, we just stare into each others eyes for a while. i finally speak up. "what now?" i ask, earning a laugh from chan, the laugh was music to my ears.
"y/n? chan?" we both turn around at the familiar voice calling for us. minho visibly relaxes when he sees us. "god i thought chan murdered you or something." he breathed out as he approaches us. "what's taking so long?" he asks, immediately making eye contact with me. i send him a knowing smile. "ohhhhh." he answers his own question. he smiles back, but i couldn't help but see the flash of pain across his face, or the way water began to flood his eyes against his will. he quickly blinked it away. "glad you finally came to your senses, man." he pats chan's back whose eyes haven't left mine. minho gives me one last smile before turning around and walking away.
"chan, we have to help minho." i say, sadness flooding my body watching him walk away.
"i'll do anything to take away that frown." chan responds, rubbing his thumb across my bottom lip. i blush. how does the change happen so fast?
"you have to break up with yuna." i state, trying to ignore the pain i caused myself.
"done." he responds pulling out his phone. i watch as he calls yuna, my eyes widen in horror.
"chan not over the p-" he cuts me off when she answers.
"channie? what's up?" he looks up at me apologetically upon hearing the nickname.
"you were right." he says. yuna is silent.
"congratulations, channie, really." i hear sadness in her voice.
"i'm sorry..." chan says.
"don't be, our starwriting is heading in a different direction." she says, he smiles fondly.
"and may your stars become one with seungmin." chan whispers.
"and may yours become one with y/n." she responds.
"goodbye, yuna."
"goodbye, chan."and with that, the call ends. i looked at him shocked.
"you knew she had a soulmate?" i ask. he nods.
"she agreed to stay with me until i found mine, we were best friends and didn't want either one to be lonely." he admits. i nodded, understanding what he was saying because honestly, i could have seen myself doing that with minho had tonight not gone well. "hey, don't worry about minho, he's a strong guy." chan pats my leg sensing my sadness.
"we still have to help him." i state.
"and we will, but can we celebrate us first?" he asks, smiling at me. i nod. he laughs evilly as he launches himself into the passenger seat with me. i squeal as he flips us around, me straddling him as he sits in the seat. he pulls the car door closed, the car darkening as his window tint closed us in. both of us blush at the sudden position we are in.
"people will see us!" i protest, worriedly looking out the tinted window. his hand reaches up, lightly grabbing my jaw causing me to look back into his eyes.
"let them." he whispers, eyes darkened, his thumb caressing my jawline. i subconsciously lean down to him. our faces mere inches apart. i feel his breath hit my lips, causing me to flinch back slightly, but immediately pull myself closer. my hands fall onto his shoulders as his move slowly to the back of my head, simultaneously pulling us closer. our eyes gently close as our noses brush up against the other. chan lets out a deep breathe before pulling my head the last few inches, closing any gap between us.
our lips meet, my whole body shivers at the feeling. his teeth gently graze my bottom lip before he lightly sucks on it. our lips moving in sync on one another a faint yet familiar sound rings in my ears. chan and i both pull back simultaneously. we both scan each others faces, waiting for the other to say something.
"did you hear that?" he breaks the silence. i nod.
"it sounded like..." i trail off.
"twinkling?" he finishes. i nod slowly.
"twinlkling..." i repeat. we stare at each other before deciding to close the gap again. this time his tongue swipes across my bottom lip, causing me to open my mouth further, allowing him to explore. our tongues collide, gently sliding across one another. the twinkling sound fills our ears once more, chan hums in approval. the once annoying sound now sounds like the most soothing sound i've ever heard, causing me to relax even further into chan's body. we finally back away for air. our lips glistening with saliva in the moonlight. "i have a question." i say.
"what is it?" he asks, pushing a loose curl back behind my shoulder.
"what the hell is starwriting?" i ask the question i've had since the night the lady spoke it to me. chan smiles brightly.
"well..." he starts.
