two beings, one soul

kang y/n

as we approach the brightly colored booth, we watch as a woman walks away, smiling happily. the crackling sounds of a fire fill my ears, i look over to minho, who's eyebrows are furrowed indicating he may be hearing the same sound. we peer into the booth, an old woman who looks similar to the one i saw before, this time wearing yellow, smiles upon seeing us. as we approach the counter hand-in-hand, she lays her hands flat out in front of us.

"you two have already found your soulmate." she says, we nod. "but that's not why you're here..." she smirks. "do you wish to play?" she asks, motioning to the jar labeled '$20'. i roll my eyes, reaching into my pocket for a bill. minho's hand stops me, he then reaches into his own pocket pulling out the bill himself. he happily places it in the jar, giving my hand a squeeze. "i see two beings, but only one soul." she scans her eyes between minho and i.

"what do you mean by that?" minho asks. "why do we know things about each other without having to ask?" he pries, hoping to get to the point.

"tsk tsk. impatient... the both of you." she shakes a finger at us. "tell me, what do you hear?" she asks.

"fire." we answer simultaneously. the woman laughs.

"minho..." she starts. "you feel a strange sort of attraction to y/n, yes?" she asks. i look over to minho who's ears glow a bright red.

"i mean... something like that i guess..." he says quietly.

"it's a very rare thing, what you two have." she smiles. minho and i kick our feet impatiently, squeezing each others hand in anticipation. "soulmates turned to twin flame." she pulls out two balls, in the blink of an eye, they merge into one.

"are you saying we were soulmates?" i ask.

"yes, not long ago."

"what? like in the last lifetime or something?" minho cocks an eyebrow. the woman laughs.

"more like a few months ago." the woman almost snickers.

"what?" i gasp. minho tenses up.

"y/n, you had an opportunity to come to seoul a few months ago, yes?" my eyes widen. "but you declined it. and minho, the same few months ago you felt an extreme wave of loneliness that caused you to seek out your soulmate." we look at each other. "the two of you made decisions that changed your destiny. in every other lifetime, your souls have met and fell in love, but something changed this time, consequently the universe ended your soul bond, and made you into one soul. the two of you can cause a lot of trouble for each other, i advise caution." minho and i finally break eye contact to look back at the woman. she was gone.

"where did she go?" minho asks. i shrug.

"what did she mean by 'we can cause a lot of trouble'?" i add

-

"okay so we're twin flames, which means we share the same soul." i say reading off some obscure website we found. i spin around in the computer chair to face minho who lays on his bed staring at the ceiling.

"but we were soulmates?"

"apparently." i shrug, "but it doesn't say anything about how that could 'cause problems'." i finger quote the last two words.

"i don't know, maybe she's crazy." minho suggests. i laugh.

"probably." i turn off his computer screen and plop next to him on his bed, he scoots over to give me more room. "i think it's pretty cool... how we just know things about each other." he nods.

"i guess that's why we bonded so quick." he grabs my hand, giving it a light squeeze.

"out of all the people in the world, i'm glad i share a soul with you." i turn to face him, he does the same.

"me too." he tucks a piece of hair behind my ear, his eyes seeming to linger on my lips for a moment.

"jisung's a lucky guy..." i whisper.

"so is chan..." the sound of footsteps causes both of us to quickly sit up, followed by a few knocks on the door.

"minho? have you seen y/n? chan is looking for- oh, hey y/n!" jeongin walks in smiling happily. "chan is downstairs looking for you." i nod, pushing myself out of the bed.

"thanks jeongin," i turn to minho, "ill see you later!" i smile at him, he smiles back. walking down the stairs i see a familiar head of blonde hair sitting on the couch. i smirk, knowing he hasn't noticed me yet. i carefully tiptoe towards the back of the couch, preparing for my attack.

"hey beautiful." chan's australian accent fills my ears, i frown.

"how did you know?" i groan and he laughs.

"i have good hearing." he turns around and wraps his arms around my waist. suddenly he flips me over the couch causing me to land on his lap with a thump. "how was your coffee date with minho?" he asks, smiling at me in his lap.

"it was good, he told me something about you..." i smirk.

"and what would that be?"

"something about you being... kinky?" i raise my eyebrows at him, he drops his jaw.

"d-don't listen to him..." chan stutters. i smirk.

"no? so you're just vanilla?" i tease.

"w-well no but-" i cut him off.

"which one is it?" chan groans.

"don't start something you can't finish, y/n." he warns. i put my hands up defensively.

"okay, okay, i surrender!" i laugh. "why were you looking for me?" i finally ask.

"oh right!" he nervously scratches the back of his neck. "i was wondering if you wanted to go with me to australia..."

"australia?" my eyes widen.

"yeah... to meet my family..." he smiles sheepishly before pulling out two plane tickets. "they really want to meet you."

"chan... i would love to meet your family."
