Sendoh has been walking Anika home almost everyday. Their friendship became closer and stronger just like before in middle school.
Some days, Anika would sit in Shohoku's practice matches and observe. Coach Anzai said that she is a great strategist and she might be in use in the future, especially when he is no longer around.
After today's practice match, Anika went to the vending machine to buy some Pocari Sweat. She did not expect to see Mitsui there as well.
"Anika-san!" Mitsui waved to Anika
"Mitsui-senpai." Anika bowed to give respect and proceeded to buy her drink. When she turned around, she was surprised to see Mitsui looking at her and started to speak
"You know, I look up to Anzai sensei so much. He is like my hero. I think you share the same wisdom with Anzai sensei when it comes to basketball."
"Wow hmm... I do not think I'm in that level yet. uncle Mitsuyoshi knows everything in basketball. I don't... I am just starting to, because of him."
"So you love basketball because of him?"
"Yes... When I was in middle school, I ran away from home. I came running to uncle Mitsuyoshi... I was really sad and had to stop going to school for a year. He didn't know how to make me feel better, so he introduced basketball to me. He even taught me how to shoot." Anika smiled to the ground as she remembered her sweet memories with coach Anzai
"You know how to... shoot?"
"Yep. I have asthma so I can't really run around... So uncle said that he'd teach me the perfect form of a 3-point shooter. I learned it in 8 months. Those months were like the happiest months of my life."
"Wow, now I'm jealous. I'd also like to experience a one on one training with Anzai-sensei."
"Haha he is the best... To be honest, he always tells me about you. About your perfect form when you do your 3-point shots. We would sometimes watch your videos from middle school and learn from those."
Mitsui blushed a bit when he heard those words.
"Anyway, I'm sorry, I have to go. Nice chatting with you Mitsui-senpai."
When Anika was about to leave, somebody called out her name.
"Anika?"
It was Sendoh
"Sendoh??? Why are you here? In Shohoku high??" Mitsui asked
"Sorry, am I interfering something? I have been waiting at the front gate for quite some time and then saw Haruko-san so I asked her if she saw Anika by any chance" Sendoh asked and looked at Anika
"I was really thirsty so I had to get something. So sorry about that." Anika said
"Don't worry Sendoh-kun, I did not do anything to your girlfriend. You must be careful though, cause she is really beautiful and smart. Anyway, I'll go ahead." Mitsui winked at Anika and left
There was a moment of silence between Anika and Sendoh before Sendoh broke the silence
"Do you guys have a thing now?"
