Pain

*Writer's POV*

The entre trip to the hospital is both painful for Anika and Sendoh. They are in an ambulance and she wouldn't stop crying. She is sitting on his lap and their clothes are drenched in blood.

"Miss, you need to calm down and sit here on the bed. You will lose a lot of blood if you continue to be like that!" One of the nurses said

"It's so painful..." She murmured as he wiped the tears and blood from her face

"We're almost there, okay? Try to stop crying, Anika. I'm here."

"Sendoh-kun!! How is my daughter? Are you alright? Your clothes..."

"Hi Ms. Anzai, yeah this is actually... Anika's blood... She is undergoing surgery now because of her broken nose... She also lost quite a lot of blood."

Sendoh told told her about the incident until she's in tears. He said that the surgery might last for another 2 hours and he'll return after he's changed his clothes at home.

When he reached home, the phone is ringing. It's Hikoichi.

"I researched about Minami and it turns out that she is the sister of Toyotama's ace killer."

"You mean, she did that on purpose?"

"Yes. She eventually told everyone the truth. She is now banned from playing basketball in Kanagawa and Kainan is ready to kick her out of the team."

"Did she say why she did that?"

"She wanted to have revenge on Shohoku. She also knew that Anika-san is coach Anzai's niece."

"I see."

"How is Anika-san?"

"Not good. I need to go back to the hospital now. Thanks for the info, Hikoichi."

"Anytime!"

*Anika's POV*

I opened my eyes to an unfamiliar white ceiling. Definitely not my room... Nor Akira's room. Where the heck am I?

I looked to my right where I saw Akira staring back at me. He seemed so shocked to see me awake?

"You're awake!"

"H-hi Akira." There's a lump in my throat which made it hard for me to speak.

He walked towards my bed and held my hand.

"Are you still in pain?"

I shook my head and I realized that there is something wrapped around my head. I felt it using my fingertips

"W-what's this?" I asked

"You broke your nose. The doctor said it will take about 3 weeks or less before he can remove those bandages..."

"Shit! You mean I have to wear this during my chess competition next week???"

"I'm afraid so..."

"Oh no... How long have I been out? Did I miss a lot of practice?? How is my team?"

"You've been asleep for 3 days. Unfortunately, your team lost against Shoyo yesterday... They didn't have their ace to play so it was really tough for them."

"I can shoot but I'm definitely not an ace like the guy in front of me..." I grinned at him

His lips parted and was surprised to see me smiling

"What?" I asked

"Nothing... You don't remember what happened, do you?"

"I fell down?"

"And?"

"I'm not so sure..."

"Hmm okay, I guess it's better this way."
