A/N: SG/O= LGBTQ+ Sexual or Gender Orientation. Also, angst warning.

The sun rose up, still looking beautiful as always in Lovejoy, however, to Y/n, it was nothing short of a sigh. For all of Lovejoy's beauty, its neighbors hid something about themselves. Sally secretly has a psychotic side, and Wally is a murderer. These small things made her think intently to herself, leaving if things got out of hand. But if she did, she would have to leave a lot of opportunities behind. Her phone rang and looked at it, 'Mother'

She rolled her eyes, picking the phone up with annoyance. "Hello?" She sighed.

"Y/n, how dare you shove me out of your office like that yesterday!" She yelled through the phone, Y/n groaned, not in the mood to get into an argument early in the morning. "I just woke up." She mumbled to herself. "What was that?" Her mother asked angrily. "Right, forgot how deaf you can be, I said I just woke up. I'm way too tired to deal with your bullshit today," Y/n explained, her mother getting more pissed off at her.

"I am your mother! You do not speak to me that way!" Her mother exclaimed angrily, Y/n eyes started to tear up, memories of all forms of abuse flooding her brain. Some physical, mostly mental, verbal, and financial.

"You won't be once I change my name." Y/n excused, her Mother's eyes widening in shock at the other end of the phone. "What?"

"I swear you got to be deaf, go to a damn ear doctor or something. If I need to consistently repeat myself, then I guess I must yell it. I said, "You won't be once I change my name!""

Her brain raced in denial, "No, you can't." She said, tears flowing down her face.

"I'm over 18 mother, I sure can. You embarrassed me enough when you barged into my work on my first week when I told to stay the fuck out of my life, you still call, and you're still mean and self-absorbed as ever. You expect me to respect you just because I'm your child-"

"YES! That's all I ever asked of you."

"Before you so rudely interrupted me, respect is a two-lane street. You have to respect me as well if you want respect too." Y/n continued, getting good points in on her argument. "You expect me to change too, but the thing is, you haven't changed yourself either. You expect me to forget the past when you keep doing the same things that you did in the past. Like getting into my personal life like when you read my diary without permission and then barged into my job like you own the damn place," She vented.

"I was doing an investigation," She replied, "That's not a good excuse, you could've talked to me about it because I had suspicions as well, but I already know the truth," Y/n stated. "Why do you gotta be like this?" Her mother questioned, "You made me this way."

"EXCUSE ME!? I raised you to the best of my ability, clearly not enough to get those fucked up "Gen z's" integrated into your life!" She stated, "I'm sorry, but are you blaming my friends for how I turned out!" Y/n questioned, "YES!"

"So you expected me not to have them as friends and be lonely for the rest of my life! Just because I turned out as SG/O?! You're ridiculous!" Y/n stated while her mother was on speaker.

Wally walked up to the door and was about to knock and give her a coffee on his tip but he stopped when he heard Y/n yelling. Listening to her closely as he leaned his ear up against the door a bit more to hear better.

"They obviously put that stuff onto you! You coming out as SG/O is worse than being straight! And you know what, putting the icing on the cake, that Wally Darling gives off nothing but bad vibes!" Her mother continued, Wally's eyes widening in surprise, figuring out she was obviously a two-faced bitch. "So what if he does? I'm a grown-up, I make my own choices!"

"Your acting like a child! Not a grown-up! And maybe him being Latino has something to do with his bad vibe!" Her mother replied, Wally eye's widened in shock at her remark. Y/n stopped, trying to process what she just said. "Wow...now you're both homophobic and racist..." Y/n whispered, her eyes flooding with angry tears. "Fuck you, I don't want to ever hear from you ever again you bitch." Y/n said calmly, her voice obviously showing so much heartbreak in one tone. Her mother on the other end, cursing her out.

"I AM YOUR MOTHER, YOU DO NOT CALL ME A BITCH OR ANYTHING RELA-"

Y/n hung up the phone, standing still before setting her phone on the dining room table. Wally quickly entered, not thinking to knock or anything. He stood by the door looking at her in deep concern. "Y/n," He spoke in a soft sympathetic voice. She looked at him with weak eyes, not exactly in the best mood anymore. He sat the coffee off to the side and quietly hugged her tightly. The for first time not going limp, Y/n wrapped her arms around him and buried her face into his chest.

She sniffled sadly, "I'm sorry you had to hear that," She stated quietly. "It's okay."

"How long were you standing there listening exactly?" Y/n asked, tears still rolling down her face. "After she accused your friends of being the ones to push an agenda which I don't think is true."

"Ah. I see. I notice you were about to drop off me a coffee. How sweet." Y/n smiled weakly, "I couldn't do it without."

"How much to pay back?" Y/n questioned him, "Nothing."

"What! No way! I have to repay you." Y/n said, not liking the fact of not paying anything in return for his small gesture. "No need, getting a hug from you makes up for everything, even if it's just a hug to cheer you up." He smiled, making her blush in return.
