When Caiden reaches the hospital he parks and heads straight to the nurses station.

"Hi, I'm looking for Nailani Jacobs."

"Your relation to the patient," the nurse says

"I'm her husband."

"She's in the ICU and getting a test run, sir; you will have to wait."

Sighing, he sat in one of the available waiting room chairs. He couldn't believe this, but he knew it was all his fault. Sitting with his head in his hands, he wonders how this could have ended so differently.

"Cai?" he hears a woman's voice.

He looked up to see his sister, Caitlyn, looking scared.

"Cate, thanks for coming. I didn't know who else to call; I didn't want everyone here," he says

"What's going on? Are you hurt? Is it Nai?" Caitlyn asks

"It is Nai, she." he swallows the spit in his mouth. "She tried to kill herself tonight."

"She, she tried to do what?" Caitlyn says in shock

"Why would she try to do that?" She says her voice is filled with emotion.

"Mr. Jacobs," the nurse calls, "your wife has been moved to a room."

"Look, can we do this later? I really need to check on her," Caiden says

"Oh my gosh, Cai, what did you do?"

"Cate, not right now, please."

The nurse tells Caiden the room number, and He and Caitlyn make their way to her room. They reach the room just as the doctor comes out of it.

"Are you Mr. Jacobs?"

"Yes, How's she doing" Caiden ask

"We had to pump her stomach, and her toxicology came back with very high levels of alcohol, amongst other things."

"She will be transferred and held for forty-eight hours at Crestwood Behavioral. Mental Health Center"

"Can we see her?" Caitlyn ask

"Yes, she wouldn't speak much to the nurses nor me, but maybe seeing family will make her open up."

The two siblings walk inside. Nailani had her back turned to them, but they could hear her crying. Caiden walks over to her, she looks at him but doesn't say a word, and when he reaches out to touch her, she flinches and moves back out of reach.

"Don't touch me," she says barely above a whisper

"Nai, please, I- it wasn't what you thought."

Nailani looked at him as he eased closer to the bed; she began to hit his chest when he was within arm's distance. With tears streaming down her face, she just kept beating his chest.

"Don't lie to me, Cai. I f**king heard you, I heard everything, and on our anniversary, after you promised, you're nothing but a liar."

Stepping in between her sister-in-law and brother, Caitlyn hugs Nailani as she continues to cry. When she calmed down enough, Nailani pulled away from Caitlyn.

"Of course, he called you," Nailani says, rolling her eyes

"What's that supposed to mean, Nai" Caitlyn says

"Out of all the people he could have called, he calls his sister."

"Did you forget that before the two of you were anything, we were and are best friends"

"Right, but you'll have your brothers back first."

"Nai, I'm here for you; I just wish it wasn't because you tried to harm yourself again," Caitlyn sighs.

"Don't, Cait, Don't lecture me."

"I'm not, I won't, just Nai; what were you thinking?"

"I have nothing here. I wanted to join my daughter and grandmother. I didn't want to be here; I didn't want to feel this," Nailani says

"Babe -" Cai starts

"Don't, don't you say another word to me," Nailani says, cutting him off

Everyone in the room is silent. Nailani looks at her hands, not wanting to look at her husband or sister-in-law. Caitlyn was fuming at her brother; he knew how fragile Nailani could be, and whatever he did had pushed her over the edge. Caiden was feeling guilty and didn't know how to fix it. He could lose everything, just for a night that he thought he needed to get away from everything. Soon the doctor and an orderly come in.

"Okay, Mrs. Jacobs, Mike here will help you prepare to be transferred," says the doctor.

Once Nailani is transferred to the center and assigned a room. She sits on the bed thinking; part of her wish she would have succeeded. She didn't want to go through counseling again; she didn't want to relive the pain. She just wanted to be gone, let go, and be free. It was clear to her that her husband didn't love or want her anymore. She was tired of going through the motions since he wouldn't do it; she would ask for a divorce once she got out of there. Nailani was so lost in her thoughts that she hadn't noticed someone had come into the room.

"Nailani, I'll be your counselor for forty-eight hours. My name is Dr. Robin."

"Hello, I would say it's nice to meet you, but honestly, I don't want to be here," Nailani says

"Well, it was your actions that brought you here, but we will get to talk about that in our sessions. I did come to tell you that your husband and sister-in-law are here. The visiting hours are over, but I can allow them to come in for a few minutes."

"No," Nailani says a little louder than she means to

No? Dr. Robin questions

"No, I don't want to see them."

"Okay, Dr. Robin says"

Dr. Robin gives Nailani some instructions, then leaves. She goes out into the hall and walks over to Caiden and Caitlyn.

"Hi, I'm Dr. Robin. I will be treating Nailani while she's here. You will not be able to see her tonight but do feel free to return around ten o'clock for our visiting hours.

"Wait, can't I speak to her before we leave," Caiden says

"I'm afraid not, Mr. Jacobs," Dr. Robin replies

Caiden opens his mouth to speak, but Caitlyn grabs his arm and shakes her head.

"Thank you, Dr. Robin; we will be back tomorrow," Caitlyn says.

At home, Caiden is not sure what to do with himself; he is glad he convinced Caitlyn to go home instead of coming home with him. The house was a mess. With a sigh, he looks around and picks up the glass from the broken frame. After cleaning up the glass, he noticed the picture of the day they'd found out she was pregnant. The picture was leaning out of the frame, and he noticed something behind it. He pulled out the picture, and the ultrasound photo fell out. He picked it up; he hadn't seen the ultrasound since they got home from the doctor with it. He never even knew she had hidden it, probably after the incident. The two of them had become distant and argued a lot. They were both hurting, and he realized that, but he couldn't lose Nailani after losing their child. They had been through so much; he knew he'd messed up. He knew that he had to fix it. He continued to clean up the mess and the evidence that his actions caused his wife to almost take her life. After cleaning the living room and bathroom, he showered and lay in bed, trying to fall asleep.
