Sonya and Jamila make it to the hospital in record time and walk up to the reception area. Before they can ask about Nailani, Janessa calls them over. They walked toward the small group that had gathered. Xavier is pacing back and forth while Janessa and Janaya sit watching.

"Is everything okay? What do we know?" Sonya asks

"We're still waiting for the Doctor," Janessa says lowly, looking down at the ground.

Janessa had just spent the past five minutes trying to reassure her husband and get him to sit down. He said that Nailani still hadn't regained consciousness when they arrived, and they didn't allow him to go with her for whatever testing they were doing. So, though he had calmed down some, he hadn't stopped pacing.

Sonya walks over to him and pulls him into a hug. "She just got here," Xavier says ruefully. "I, we," he starts, but Sonya interrupts. "I know Xav, I know we can't lose hope," Sonya says.

"Looking for the family of Nailani Jacobs," The Doctor says. They all stand up and walk towards him. "We're her family," Xavier says

"Your wife..." "My sister," Xavier says

"Right, sorry, I apologize, your sister's blood pressure is very high."

"Is that affecting her and the baby?" Xavier asks

"Baby," the ladies all say in sync.

"Yes, that's why we are working to bring it down so that mother and child will not be at risk." the doctor says

"How is she now?" Sonya asks, "Is she awake?"

"Unfortunately, she is still unconscious," the doctor says

"Sorry, I don't have better news," he says. "We will keep you updated," The doctor says before leaving.

Xavier slumps into the closest chair. He and his sister are finally talking after years. It was mostly as her lawyer, but they were on the right track to having some time of relationship. He doesn't want to lose her just when she is back in his life when he finally has the opportunity to fix everything that has been broken between them. He feels a hand on his shoulder, and Janessa lies on his other shoulder, grabbing his hand.

"Xav, did you say baby?" Jamila asks

Fudge, he thought. Xavier didn't want to lie to the women, but technically, the doctor would have mentioned the baby anyway, so he guessed he could tell them. Janessa already knew about the baby. He just wouldn't say anything about the divorce.

"Nai is pregnant," He finally admits.

"What? Why didn't she say anything?!" Jamila asks, still in shock about all the events that have taken place today.

"She was probably overwhelmed with everything else that had been going on. I don't know." He says with a shrug.

"But why would she tell you?" Jamila inquires, which causes him to glare at her. "Sorry, I didn't mean it like that. It's just that it is no secret that you are not her favorite person in the world right now."

He sighs and zones out of the conversation, focusing his thoughts and prayers on his little sister.

Sonya understands where her great-niece, who is more like a granddaughter, was coming from. What made Nailani confide in her brother? Then she noticed that Janessa didn't look surprised and watched the younger individuals. She couldn't help but think of all the adults who had failed Nailani, including herself. She should have tried harder to get her to return home and tell her about the letter. As she sat and watched them go through phases of worry and hope, she sat silently praying that her granddaughter would wake up and she and the baby would be okay.
