I'm fucked.
Falling asleep at Castle's house and waking up late was not the plan. Even though it was hella amazing.
I look up at my window from where I'm standing below my house. My locked window.
Meaning dad came to wake me up in the morning and found me gone.
Shit.
A huge sigh comes out of my mouth.
I guess I'm in for some morning lecture today.
Groaning a few curses under my breath, I drag my feet to the porch and to the front door.
Squeezing my eyes shut, I press the doorbell.
Footsteps immediately sound from other side of the door.
It opens.
"Oh hey!" Dad's overly cheery voice makes me wince. "Long time no see!" He leans against the doorframe. "Aren't you my kid? I think I've been having memory issues. Because according to every house, isn't the kid supposed to inform their parents before going out all alone in the night?"
I look up at him, with an equally forced smile that might've looked like a grimace. "Hi."
His smile drops into an angry look. "Where the hell were you?"
"Riley's house."
"No, you weren't. I already called her."
Shit.
I open my mouth for another lie—
"Don't. Even. Think. About. It." He narrows his eyes at me.
I clamp my mouth shut.
He stares down at me with strict eyes before a sigh escapes his lips and his anger fades away.
"Did you do something illegal?" He asks.
"No."
"Were you somewhere you weren't supposed to be?"
"No."
"Were you at a boy's house?"
Ah, shit.
He takes my silence as an answer. His eyes turn serious again. "Who?" He demands.
I resist a groan. "Castle's house."
He scrunches his eyebrows. "Castle's house...? What were you doing at Castle's house?"
"Nothing inappropriate," I reply.
"Oh, I'm not worried about that. I know how Castle is."
