A ton of Laredo references were made in this movie. Like when Chad says "You're looking pretty" to Marlyn, he's repeating the same line he says in his Laredo episode. Another reference is when Brer Rabbit mentions Marlyn working with Peter Graves, who starred with her and Chad and Jeremy on Laredo

This is the second time Burt Ward is credited as producer in the place of Brer Rabbit, who is starring in this film.

We had to rerecord a lot of Jeremy's lines because my dad kept saying them too aggressively. In Crossbow, Jeremy Clyde plays the main antagonist, Hermann Gessler. My dad said his lines here aggressively because he thought treasure hunting was a Gessler thing and wanted to channel it in there.

Marlyn Mason is the girl who played Belleflower Ferne in the Chad and Jeremy Laredo episode. Chad Stuart's character becomes smitten with her in the episode, which made Marlyn the perfect love interest for him here.

Brer Rabbit's line, "Brer Possum is fat, fat, fat," is a reference to the Tim Burton movie Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. It's the line where Grandpa George says "Mark my words, the kid who finds the first ticket will be fat, fat, fat!"

My dad ad libbed that line because he thought it was hilarious. He didn't tell me he had the line in mind. He just told me to film Brer Rabbit and let him say it because it was a Willy Wonka reference.

In every shot where Chad cries, my dad prepared himself by pretending to cry until I said 'cut'.

We were never able to film Brer Bear's snoring shots in one take because I could never stop laughing.

As said, Patty Duke's real name wasn't Patty. It was Anna Marie Duke.

This story has most of the same elements from the original Jelly Side Up!. It's about both a romance and a prank that backfires.

Brer Rabbit, Burt and Patty fat-shaming Brer Possum is a reference to a song in the original Song of the South. The lyric is, "Ol' Brer Possum got a trick. How come he gets so fat?"

When my dad first read Marlyn's name, he misread it as Marilyn Manson.

Tony Baxter and Marty Sklar are actual Disneyland and Disney World imagineers, so it made sense to say they founded Splash Mountain.
