The monster he was looking for

In Nico's hand there was a black sword, he looked angry as he glared at the monster. It was enough to make anyone shiver. Under his death glare grown men could call for their Mothers.

"So you two finally decided to show up?" Said Mr Miller with a chuckle, like this whole thing was a game to him. Larry left Nico's side and came over to Lillith and Aurora on his crutches.

"What in Hades happened here?" He said looking at Lillith's leg wound.

"That things shot something at me and she jumped in front of me." Nico who was partly listening to their conversation looked over and the fever ridden Lillith. She looked pale but strangely he could not sense whether or not she was dying. If she didn't get some nectar soon she would die, Manticore poison is deadly to demigods. The fact that she had jumped in front of Aurora, the one that always picked on her made him wonder what her motives were. Why would she do something like that? One thing was for sure and that was that this girl was different and she interested him.

"Larry stop with the chat and give her the nectar or she'll die." He said fighting off an on coming attack from the Manticore. Larry nodded and rummage through his school backpack.

"Hades...you said that name again..." Lillith said weakly. "Just what exactly is this world that I have stepped into?" The manticore charged at Nico but he dodged the attack, swinging his sword at the beast before him.

"Not bad child of death but tell me why are you here? Surely the son of Death did not come all the way here to save one insignificant demigod?"

"One demigod? There are two over there."

"Oh no, Lillith is not a demigod."

"Then what is she?"

"It is not my place to tell you. I'm sure that you'll find out soon enough. She can't keep hiding, soon she will have to show her true natures." He said lunging at Nico. Nico nimbly jumped on to the desk and the manticore flew past him.

"What will her true natures be?" He asked trying to get as much information out if the manticore as possible. The manticore however had no intention of giving him any more information. He just smiled and charge once more but this time Nico decided it was time to end the fight. He brought his sword up and just at the right time he brought it down upon the manticore's head, cutting it clean off. Then he watched as it turned to dust. "Go back to tartarus." The he jumped of the desk and went over to were the others were.

"Here it is." Said Larry taking out the Nectar.

"What is that?"

"Nectar food of the Gods. You drink to much and it burns your inside's up." He said uncapping it.

"Stop." Said Nico making them look at him. He stared down at Lillith then placed his sword to her throat.

"N-Nico what are you doing?" Larry stuttered.

"My Father sent me here because of a large threat. He said it was a powerful and dangerous monster disguised as a girl. I wasn't sure but now I'm certain that it is her so she must die."

"Nico no, you can't kill her." Said Larry.

"Why are you defending a monster?"

"If she was really a monster then why did she save Aurora? A monster wouldn't do that, not for a demigod, not for anyone."

"Not a monster...I'm not...a...monster." Lillith said but she said it in her sleep, like she wasn't really there.

"Listen we don't know what she is but I don't think she is a threat. We'll take her to Chiron. He'll know what to do."

"You mean take her back to camp and put everyone there at risk. Are you stupid?"

"Both of you just shut up. Take that sword away from Lillith now. She is dying so give her the stuff that's meant to save her life and talk about this later." Shouted Aurora. Larry looks shocked but Nico just glared coldly at her but he took away his sword from her throat. Larry put the Nectar to Lillith's mouth and she drank.

"There that should be enough to stabilise here until we get back to camp. The Apollo kids can deal with the rest." He said doing the lid up and putting it away. Lillith's eyes opened suddenly and she twisted to the side. Then she coughed violently and the Nectar Larry just gave her came back up, along with a fair amount of blood.

"That tastes like salt." She said weakly. Larry's eyes widened.

"Salt? But it's Nectar, it's meant to taste really nice. Like home made brownies, stuff like that. Your body seems to be rejecting it."

"A monster's body would reject Nectar." Nico stated.

"Let's just go." He said going to pick her up but Nico stopped him.

"We all know that's not going to work." He said moving to pick her up instead.

"If your carrying her then you don't but another scratch on her. No one hurts her until we talk to Chiron."

"Fine." Nico said as they walked out of the broken classroom...
