A friend

Aurora sat with Drew and a few others from the Aphrodite cabin. Drew was the cabin counsellor and she used charm speak just like her but Drew was much more powerful than she was. The five of them were sat on a wall watching the Hermes cabin do archery. Aurora found that the Aphrodite cabin didn't actually take part in the training. They mostly sat and talked about the latest fashion, who should hook up and fixing their make up. Aurora loved it, it was perfect for her. She got to do all the things she loved and didn't have to go to proper school any more but still something held her back. She had a gut feeling that something was wrong back home, she kept having weird dreams about her younger step brother James walking around late at night by himself. He would be calling her name but she never came. He was dressed in his nerd gear and she looked panicked. His head was bleeding like he had fallen over and hurt himself badly. Aurora might not like her step brother but she did love him and too see him hurt like that made her panicked and worried.

"Hey look at Will talking to that creepy new girl." Said Drew looking at Lillith. "Aurora honey what did you say her name was?"

"Lillth Lamwood.""

"Did you guys hear about what happened yesterday?" Said another Aphrodite girl called Lily.

"I heard that it was here that made Cara burn her hand like that." Said another.

"Girl don't be ridicules. Look at the girl she can't even hit a target never mind do something like that." But that was when everyone went quiet and Aurora watched as the arrow racks shook violently. Lillith was glaring at a Apollo boy and the arrows flew up into the air then they shot towards the target and stuck all over the target board. Everyone stared at Lillith in silence and then she turned and ran.

"What in Hades just happened?" Said Lily. Aurora stood up and began to walk away.

"Aurora honey where are you going?"

"I'll be back in a bit." She called going after Lillith. She ran all over the camp looking for her until eventually she spotted the black haired girl by the lake. She was curled up in a ball and her shoulders were shaking. She was crying. Still breathing heavy from running around everywhere Aurora went to sit next to the crying girl. "Um Lillith?"

"What?" She said in a shaky voice.

"I saw what happened back there...that was pretty weird huh?"

"Yeah, yeah it was because I'm a monstrous freak that doesn't belong here."

"I think you do. I understand how you must feel..."

"How?" Lillith said cutting her off. "How do you understand? You fit in were ever you go. I don't." She said looking up at Aurora with watery eyes. "I didn't fit in at a normal school because of those strange powers and now I don't even fit in here. You can't...someone like you can't understand how is feels. You just can't."

"Maybe your right but I'm trying to understand I am."

"Why? I'm the freak that you made fun of remember? I'm the one you like to make fun of."

"Yeah but things changed when you saved me that day. I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for you. As much as I might hate it I'm in your debt."

"That's not why I did it."

"Why did you do it?"

"Because you would have died if I didn't."

"But I'm the one that made fun of you. Surely you would hate me for that."

"Sure it's not endearing but I don't hate you for it and I certainly don't want you dead. I understand you picking on me. I might pick on me if I were you. I get that I'm a freak and I'm different. Society doesn't like different that's why people like me are always picked on...thanks for coming to see me...you didn't have too."

"You okay now?"

"Yeah I'm fine. You should probably go fix your make up."

"Why is it messy?"

"No but I'm just giving you an excuse to leave before this gets awkward." Aurora smiled and stood up.

"See you later maybe."

"Yeah sure." Lillith said looking up at her. Aurora turned and saw Nico stood a few feet away. Aurora walked past him and when she was very far away she turned back around to see him sat next to Lillith on the ground. It was clear to the daughter of Aphrodite that love was blooming between the two...

"I heard what happened...you okay?" Nico asked.

"I'm fine thanks."

"You lost your temper again. You said you would work on that."

"I know and I am trying to but I just couldn't."

"Just as well I told Chiron that your outburst happen when you get angry. He placed you on a new programme. For the rest of the afternoon you and I will be working on controlling your powers."

"Really? You'll help me?"

"I don't really have a choice. Chiron's orders and while I'm in camp I have to follow them too." Nico stood up and offered Lillith a hand. She took it and Nico helped her up.

"Thanks Nico. Your a good friend."

"Friend?"

"Yeah friend."

"Okay first time I've been called a friend but anyway..." He said to himself hiding his blush for Lillith...
