I took my mom's hand. She took mine. We stood there for a while, her hand holding mine, both of us on the ground.
Her quiet sobs filled the room, and my loud ones did too.
We stay there, until my mom cupped my cheeks. She was rubbing my tears away, but they kept coming.
"Hey. Hun, it's alright. Don't worry about it," she hesitated before hugging me "I'm alright. Don't worry".
But I did worry. Because, even if she said that she was alright, why did I feel her tears fall onto my shirt? If she was alright, why was she on the ground, weeping? If she was alright, why wasn't she with dad, hugging him and giving him pecks on the cheek?
I pushed her away, and stared into her puffy eyes.
"Mom," she looked at me with a smile, ready to hear what I had to say "I'm never going to be like him. I promise."
She nodded, a sad smile playing on her lips. She hugged me again, and everything else was a blur onto the eyes of a thirteen year old.
