After Lord Benchheim Junior is led away, the crowd disperses, and the feast continues. Sanna slips through the mass of people until she reaches Luna and Caspian. The two smile at each other in a way that makes the second daughter of Lord Bern feel like an intruder. She hesitates for a moment, allowing her sister and her mother to catch up to her. Meanwhile, she brushes the last remains of tears from her cheeks.
» Luna! « Calls she then, closing the distance. The warrior looks up, withdrawing from the king's proximity. Caspian says something and disappears in the crowd. Sanna rushes forward, flinging her arms around her new friend.
» Thank you, « she whispers,
» Are you alright? « Luna nods curtly, slowly returning the embrace,
» And you? « They bull back, grasping each other's hands. Sanna catches the Crown Shield's gaze, and they converse silently, saying what cannot yet be said out loud.
King Caspian returns with two refreshments, offering one to Luna and one to Sanna. Melian smiles, pulling her daughter into her side,
» When you finish, I'll take you upstairs, my darling. « Sanna thanks the king quietly, staring into her glass for a moment. Valanya and Luna both sense the girl's unease.
» Rest will do you good, « says the oldest sister. Luna, however, exchanges a gaze with Caspian. He shrugs ever so slightly – they both know Lady Sanna needs rest, but – just as Luna's struggle – she must learn to decide her own fate.
» No, « Sanna's voice wavers,
» I refuse to be brought down by this, by hi- that man. « She lifts her head, setting a brave face. Her family voices concern but the girl holds Luna's gaze,
» It's my choice. « And in that very moment, she seems to age ever so slightly; battle-worn now.
