After a bloody but short fight with the three pirates, the Narnians leave the brig. Caspian is more or less awake but far from capable to defend himself. The emptiness in Luna's chest is filled again – not by the cold rage, the hatred, the wish for revenge from earlier, though. They still burn inside her, sure, but now all of it steps back, making space for a strange serenity. The warrior's mind is crystal clear as she leads her friends back towards the upper decks. Her hands cease their trembling, steady as ever. She allows herself to be carried on the wings of her fear, riding along with confidence and sharp determination. If anything moves against them, against her king, her Caspian, it won't move for long. She will do whatever it takes to bring them all to safety.
Along with Halion and Tingel she clears the path, uncaring of the noise. They reach the stairs up to the main deck just as another pirate climbs down. Luna's eyes are narrowed as she lunges forward. She drags the stunned man down the last few steps and finishes him off without so much as a twitch. As she discards the body without another glance at him, she reaches for the railing. A hand on her arm stops the Crown Shield. Tingel catches her gaze as she whirls around, blade at the ready. She is splattered in blood and gore from head to toe, her eyes dark and motionless. The warrior has fallen in a bloody rage, other life meaningless to her.
» Calm down, soldier, « the dwarf casts her an urgent look,
» We all want revenge but it's not ours, you know that. « Luna growls, heaving a few deep breaths. She blinks as the blind rage clears partially, glancing at her companions. While Halion is on lookout, Rynelf and Tingel nod at her. They sense that her mind breaks free, even though a murderous expression flickers over her features at the sight of Caspian. Still, Tingel is right. The mission is to bring them all onto the Dawn Treader alive and well enough. And then... Then they will wait for the time of revenge. It will come when the heated blood cools and the mind sees straight.
Luna gives a curt nod before turning and climbing through the hatch. They all make it on deck without much delay, finding a few not so drunken slavers facing the small group. Pug grins at them, chuckling as he views the king who heaves from exhaustion. Then, the slaver's eyes settle on Luna. They hold surprise to see her, of course, but he doesn't dwell on it.
» Even ye won't escape death twice, girl, « he cries,
» I'll be thorough this time. «
» You talk too much, « Luna seethes, changing the dagger to her left hand while drawing her sword. Her rage burns, wildly ablaze since she spotted their nemesis, the slave traders' chief. Tingel's warning reminds her to stay calm, level-headed. This is not a good time to set aside the stoic demeanour of a Crown Shield, this is not the time for revenge. Yet, if the pirates leave them no choice, she will fight with everything she has.
Somewhere starboard, Captain Drinian's familiar voice orders the crew to get in position – the Dawn Treader must be free of the tows binding her to the Devil's Tide by now. They are ready to fight as well. This diverts the pirates' attention. While sinking into a fighting stance, Luna exchanges a glance with her companions.
