“Ugh…” Carol said, as she rubbed her head.

She was lying face up on the ground. She covered her eyes with her hands to avoid the burning glare of the sunlight. She slowly sat up. She checked herself. “Nothing too serious…” She thought.

Her whole body was bruised, both from the fall and from their run through the forest. There were also scrapes and marks all over her face. Other than that, it was a miracle that she was fine. That was when she remembered what had happened.

“Oh no…”  she thought. “What had happened to my friends when we landed?”

She started to worry, until she heard a groan from a nearby bush. Hazelnut hair popped up from the leaves. It was…

“DANA!” Carol happily screamed, tackling her friend into a hug.

“GAH! CAROL! BRUISED RIBS, BRUISED RIBS!” Dana shouted, wincing.

“Oops! Sorry.” Carol chuckled.

“Guys!” a voice called out.

“Astrid!” Carol screamed and tackled her other friend into a hug after helping Dana up.

“You’re alive viking girl!” Dana said slowly walking up to her best friend.

“Dana! Wait…what did you just call me?” Astrid gave Dana a pointed look.

“Nothing!” Dana mischievously said.

“Wait…we’re all here except-”

Astrid was interrupted by  the rustling of leaves and a loud THUD and a quiet ‘OOF’

“Ow.” Amara said, rubbing her back.

“AMARA!” The others said laughing, as they ran over to her friend and helped her up.

They all closed in for a suffocating (but still comforting)  group hug.

“Guys…let go now…please…my ribs are killing me.” gasped Dana.

When they finally let go, Astrid asked:

“How did we even survive that?”

“Well, the cliff we fell off of was luckily sloped and not…well, a straight death drop onto the hard, cold ground.” Carol said, tapping her chin.

“Yeah… you guys must have all rolled, which lessened most of the force of the impact…and well I…fell into a tree, so...” Amara chimed in.

“Oh right! We learned this in physics.” Dana said.

“Well thank goodness physics was on our side today.” Astrid said.

“Is everyone okay?” Amara asked

“Bruised, scratched, a bit bloody, a lot dirty but…we’re fine” Dana said with a smile.

“Do you guys still have your stuff?” Carol asked. “My camera lens is cracked but…it still works. My backpack is still with me too,” she said, showing them her bag still strapped to her back.
