Third-person POV

Maudie and Ava were in the office, gathering every single piece of material they may need for their project that was due the next day, while the boys were in Ezra's kitchen, getting the baskets of eggs out of the fridge.

"Do you think we'll be needing this?" Ava asked, holding out a roll of bubble wrap.

Maudie gave her a blank stare, hoping that she'd realize if it was useful to their project or not.

"Oh, I see." Ava grinned sheepishly. "We can definitely use this."

The two girls continued rummaging through the shelves around the office until the door flew open, and two boys came in carrying a big basket of eggs each.

"We're back with the eggs!" Kyle announced as Ezra trailed behind him.

The girls stopped their search and looked at the two as they placed the baskets of eggs on the kitchen countertop.

"You know, Maudie, maybe you shouldn't have adopted five chickens." Ezra sighed, looking at the number of eggs they had.

"Two baskets aren't that much, plus we need a lot of them for this project," Maudie replied.

Ezra opened the fridge, which was stacked top to bottom with eggs.

He had his eyebrows raised as he waited for Maudie's comeback.

"Maybe you're right." She admitted, "It may be too much, but we can always give them away."

"I guess." Ezra replied, "Do any of you have ideas?"

The rest shook their heads to his question.

"Ava and I have gathered a lot of materials; let's just sit down and brainstorm." Maudie suggested.

The rest nodded, and they all went to the living room, hoping to get ideas for their project.

They spent 5 minutes in silence, trying to think of something.

"Why can't we think of anything?" Ava asked, tossing her head back.

"I know!" Kyle announced, standing up.

"We don't have Chinese food."

"Chinese food?" Ava, Maudie, and Ezra asked in unison.

"Whenever they have to think of something in movies, they always get Chinese food and eat it right out of the box." Kyle explained.

"He's not wrong," Ava said, backing him up. "Show writers struggling to find inspiration? the episodes not going to air on time without ordering up some chicken chow mein."

Ezra was a bit skeptical and decided to speak up.

"Those are just from the movies; there's no way Chinese food is going to—"

Later...

The four ended up ordering Chinese food to see if Kyle's theory was true.

"Wow Kyle, I'm suddenly feeling a flurry of ideas coming on." Maudie commented.

"Same here." Ava added.

All three of them looked at Ezra to hear his input.

"Okay, fine..." Ezra admitted unwillingly, "I have a couple of ideas now."

"Thank you, China!" Kyle cheered.

"Okay," Maudie said, placing her box of Chinese food on the coffee table, "We really need to get started."

"I agree, this is all due tomorrow." Ava added.

"We could have worked on it all week if Kyle didn't distract us the whole time." Ezra said, glaring at Kyle.

"Not my fault that your dad decided to bring in a mini foosball table to the office last week," Kyle shot back.

"Guys! We really need to focus, so put your Chinese takeaway away so we can start on something." Maudie said sternly.

"Yes, ma'am." Ava, Kyle, and Ezra said in unison.

"Good, now I think I have an idea." Maudie said, twanging her notebook's elastic,

"We should combine all our ideas together."

Time skip to when their project is due...

"Ava, Ezra, Maudie, and Kyle, it's your turn." Miss Tan called.

"Oh!" Miss Tan exclaimed, "That looks interesting; was the angry bird theme Kyle's idea?"

"I did my part well, if I do say so myself." Kyle said proudly as he nodded.

"Okay... Anyways, drop it when you're ready." Miss Tan said.

Ezra and Kyle brought it to the edge of the roof, and they counted down to 3 before letting it go.

Once it landed on the floor, it bounced two times.

"This contraption is impressive, but since Kyle tried to bribe me this morning, I'm bumping it down to a B plus. Well done, children." Miss Tan informed them, writing down their grades.
