As I walked the streets, famished of my desire to do as I please, I saw a crowd of men walking as a group towards an alleyway covered in musk and bloodlust. I had no one with me. Nobody to stop me from walking into a clearly bad thing. Recently, I had become alone, though on purpose, it still had an effect on my decision making.
Before walking straight towards the group of men, I noticed the presence of another person, clearly following them, but the people being targeted hadn't yet realized what was happening. Once I'd darted directly above them, I got a better look to the familiar face stalking the crowd I had focused on.
We locked eyes, and immediately, I was brutally taken down to the roof of a building, not with enough strength to break the old concrete but so fast nobody made noise. As I laid below him, we noticed that our prey had scurried anywhere else, finally being made aware of their imminent danger.
With nowhere else to look, we looked at each other, with bare anger radiating from his eyes, and mine completely hypnotized by his display of emotions, after all, he was rather known for being a stoic through and through.
-"I had been here, waiting, for three days, for them to take me to my target."- He finally spoke, not to me, just himself. I realized then, that his anger was directed towards himself.
-"I'll help you."- He stared at me with clueless eyes, and no decipherable emotion anywhere. Having a tendency to blurt out words, wasn't helping me in this case.
-"That's the least you could do. Fuck Aridam."- He's the only man I know that can speak so rudely, and sound just that much kinder. I would guess he found a way to manipulate since that moment.
-"You're such an enigma, you've been protecting me since I left, but the minute we connect, you start being so aggressive, as if I asked you to ruin everything."- I always speak with a smile plastered on my face, when it's with him. He feels homely.
-"A thank you would suffice."
-"Oh? How about I buy you a drink? For your kind service, I'll top it off, by helping you with your job."
A slanted smile. That was all it took. From then on, I continued helping him with every mission he'd encounter, whether he needed me or not, I'd be there. He was everything I needed, maybe it wasn't something I had expected, but I was craving it rather strangely. It never mattered how he mistreated me, nor how he was so adamant in rejecting my affections.
Even as it started to rain on us while leaving the bar on that first day we started being friendly with one another, I knew he wasn't oblivious to our connection. I have to assume I kept making myself available to him because I wanted all the emotions we shared, and could decipher in each other... I guess I just wanted them to mean something.
