As Ariel walked outside to wait on the car, my second thought was, about if she would let me go with her to her check up. It also hit me that she has probably had at least one appointment that I've missed.
That didn't sit well with me.
I paid the check, took one last bite of my burger, left a tip and raced outside within 45 seconds.
"Ariel? " she didn't look at me, she just dipped her pickle into the leftover strawberry syrup and ate it, like it was one of the most normal things to do.
"Ariel?" I called louder. Still nothing. "If you don't answer me now, you're going to be waking back to the office." I threatened, not really meaning it.
She didn't even look at me she just began walking in the opposite direction of her job. I followed behind her like a stray puppy for a few moments. When she didn't turn around I said, "You know the office is the other way?"
She shrugged her shoulders and continued walking. Now I was getting pissed. We had been walking for a good ten minutes and she still hadn't said anything.
With my temper rising, I noticed her take a sharp right. If I hadn't been watching her like a hawk, I would have completely missed it. I hurriedly followed her hoping once I got around the corner I could still see her.
When I made the turn, the crowd on the side street was noticeably less dense. I spotted her standing outside of a small clinic. She took a deep breath and headed in.
I was right on her heels.
When I walked in, I heard the overly perky male receptionist greet her. "Hi, Ari you're getting huge! But the bigger you get, the more beautiful. Have a seat and we'll call you back shortly."
I saw red.
But I knew I'd see black if I scuffed him up a bit, courtesy of Ariel Greene. So I stayed put. I just gave him a death glare instead.
When Ari turned around, I could see she was blushing. Then she saw me and she rolled her eyes. She sat down in an end chair with a raging toddler one seat away. I sat down in the seat separating the two, making the little girl screamed even louder.
I wanted to speak with Ari, but this little girl was just throwing the cutest little tantrum. Note the sarcasm.
Then, she slid out of the chair on to the floor and became even louder.
My Goodness. I couldn't take it anymore.
I looked over to her overwhelmed mother. "Excuses me miss do you mind if I try to calm her down? "
"Sir, I've tried everything and nothing has worked." She said just looking at the child in horror.
"Well then it doesn't hurt to try right?" I saw her nod her head, relenting. "Okay, what's her name?"
"Bella."
Okay here goes nothing.
I reached down and softly touched her back "Bella?" I cooed. She quieted a little, looking at me. "Hi, baby girl. Why are you crying," I asked looking dejected, I honestly had no clue what I was doing. "Your not very pretty when you cry." I poked my bottom lip out slightly frowning.
That really got her attention she stood up using my knees as support. She was still crying but it was more of a start, stop cry. "You know what I do like?" I asked pretending to be really excited, but not to much to scare her. She grew quieter. "I like to see beautiful little princesses smile." I whispered to her then smiled.
