Alex's POV
As soon as I walked away, from her car I knew what I would do.
I called my body guard... butler... driver, Jeff, and told him where to pick up my car. I then instructed him to bring it to Reghnington Headquarters and wait for me. After that, I called their human resources department, and asked for them to announce an early dismissal to all staff on behalf of Ariel. I told them it would be paid leave, and everyone was out of the building within the next ten minutes.
I ran, at top speed, all the way to Reghnington's. I walked in and sat at the receptionist's desk, to calm my heartbeat and breathing. I was supposed to have been in her office but as soon as I caught my breath, she walked in. So I kept my head down and pretend to do work on the computer.
When I stole a quick glance at her, I noticed her suspicion was up, my guess is because she thought the whole place was to empty and quiet.
As she walked up to me I looked up and saw both surprise and anger. Which made me nervous.
"How did you get here so fast?" Was her first question.
"Bayonet High School's record holder for fastest mile ran in class of 2007." I replied proudly.
"Where are all of my employees?" She asked coolly, with a glint in her eyes.
I remained quiet because I knew if I told her, she would try to bite my head off.
She took a deep breath. "Where are my employees? " she asked again this time, noticeably more irritated.
Oh no. Here goes nothing.
" I... sent them home?" I replied making it sound more like a question so that she wouldn't get as mad at me if I just said it bluntly.
There was a pregnant pause, no pun intended, that had me on the edge of my seat.
She took another irritated deep breath " And why on earth would you do that?" She asked between clenched teeth. I could see her face turning slightly red although her voice sounded uncharacteristically calm.
"So that I could be alone with you." I simply said.
I could see her composure slightly weaken.
I could have some fun with her.
"Please tell me, why did you want to be alone with me?" It seemed as if she was trying to keep her composure, but I saw the cracks.
"Because I had to asked you a question?" I stated passively knowing it would push her buttons.
"Now please do tell me what you question was that was so important that you just had to send my employees home with a good two hours of work still remaining." She stated with an attitude.
Better out than in like Shrek said right?
"Will you marry me?" I asked, putting it all out there.
"No. Next question?"
I stared at her for a moment, digesting her response.
No...
no...
No!
She said no!
"Why not?" I questioned, completely taken aback by her response. I could have asked any woman on the street would she marry me, and they probably would have deliberated about it longer than she had.
She's not just any old woman on the street, she's different.
She scoffed, " Why should I? For one, I don't really know you. Two, I won't marry someone just because of the situation, I would want to marry for love. Three, you just accepted the fact that this is your baby a few hours ago. And four, you're just a big meanie."
Okay the first three were logical answers but the fourth one made me laugh, "A big meanie? Is that really a logical, mature reason not to marry me?" I laughed, as she blushed. "Well if I'm a big meanie, then you're a-a poo head!" I joked trying to lessen the sting of being rejected. She burst out laughing.
After a few moments of our laughing fit, I decided to bring the conversation back to the topic at hand. "Well, how about I take you to visit my mother?"
Her amusement suddenly dissipated; she began to look and act more nervous."W-well how about you take me out on a date or two or three before you try to take me to meet the parents?" She tried to make it sound humorous. I could tell she was uncomfortable with the topic though.
"Okay, okay. I'll take you to meet the parents in a month, maybe by then you'll be ready to marry me." I laughed only half joking.
"Okay so how about we get out of here and go shopping since you've cancelled all of my work for today?" She suggested with a hint of accusation in her tone.
"I would but I actually have a meeting-".
"Nope!"She protested. "If my work has been cancelled, then so has yours." She said dragging me, by my arm, out of the building to her car.
I guess I would have to call Jeff and tell him to take my car to Ari's house. Better yet he could just follow us. That's what he gets paid to do any way.

*When we arrived at the baby store, I had to contain my excitement. I saw various little items that I wanted to buy when I first walked into the door.
"What should we do first?" Ari asked nervously, my guess is because she's never been to a baby store.
"Well, we can start with the clothes for you, since you won't be staying the same size for long." I suggested, rubbing her lower back supportively.
She glared at me, "Okay, and I'll get my revenge for you calling me fat." She said and stomped away.
As we arrived to the maternity clothes, I was completely confused. "When did I ever call you fat?"
"You insinuated that I would be getting fat by saying I wouldn't stay this size and, in fact, be getting bigger so I would need bigger clothes in the future. Basically calling me fat to my face. Any idiot would know that!"
What?
Women's logic.
"Okay I'm sorry for calling you fat, but here's a cute shirt that would be perfect for you?" I said trying to change the subject.
The shirt was white with big, bold, metallic letters saying 'Don't blame me'.
She took one look at it "It's ugly." And continued to look for other clothes.
As she was looking at some sweaters, I put the shirt in the shopping cart under some other shirts. I would like to see her in it.
She picked out enough clothes for her to wear for the next month or so, then we moved on to the baby items. "You know we have to buy two of everything right?" I asked as we were walking up the isle and she was picking up one of each thing.
"Yeah, but I thought if we get them different things, It would be easier for you to tell them apart." I caught that slight jab.
"What about you? How would you know the difference between them? "
"Oh, I'll know." Was her simple reply.
Since we didn't know the sex of the babies yet we decided to get neutral clothes. Mostly white, green, purple and black.
While, we were walking however, a little pink t-shirt caught my eye. It said 'Daddy's Little Princess' with a tiara on it. I don't know what it was, but I just had to have it. It unveiled an emotion so deep I didn't even know existed.
As I put it with the rest of the items, Ariel looked at it, but unlike every other thing I happened to like, she didn't say anything. She just glanced up at me a slightly smiled in understanding.
After we checked out, we went back to her place. We ate light that night considering the fact that she had morning sickness today.
After putting the babies things in a spare room for the time being , we decided to go to bed. The thought that we ended up in bed again, on the second night never crossed my mind. We just talked about our interests and random topics until we drifted off to sleep.
It was the best uneventful night I'd ever had.
