Anna's POV
Tonight was the night.
I was sitting in front of the Brickoven waiting for six fifty-five to come so I could go in.
My nerves were on edge because this would be my first real date ever. I went on group dates with friends when I was younger of course, but never on a one- on- one date alone.
I was always awkward when it came to the opposite gender, so I never really interacted with them.
That night was a technicality because I was shìtface drunk.
'Don't think about it. You're about to go on a date with another man. Don't think about him.' I told myself.
Although it's kind of hard not to when you see him every other day now. His dark wavy hair that felt so good running my fingers through. His vivid green eyes that are always filled with passion every time I see him. His muscular back that probably still has the scratches from that long, passionate night. Or his long-
Stop! You're about to see another man remember?
As I came back to reality, I was quickly approaching the table that Hayden sat at. The feeling that was supposed to be butterflies in my stomach at this moment made me feel like i had to take a shìt. Then it dawned on me.
I don't really want to be here.
'Well you're here now, and he sees you. You might as well try to make the best of the situation.' I told myself.
He saw me as I approached the table and stood up to chivalrously pull out my chair for me.
"Oh come on, I don't look that bad do I?" he joked.
"Oh no not at all! My name's Anna. Was my uncertainty that obvious? " I asked blushing from embarrassment.
"No not at all, you just looked like your cat scratched you on the back, and you had to take a shit." He shrugged. "A normal face for any occasion I suppose."
This made me laugh. Hard.
Even though he said I looked like I had to take a shit, his tone of voice made it hilarious, making me laugh and also breaking tge ice between us.
"My name's Hayden by that way. I'm a friend of Ariel."
"I know, she the meddling you know what that sat this whole shindig up remember?" He laughed at me probably noticing the way I avoided cussing.
I curse in my head, but I never say any bad words aloud. I only use them when necessary.
"No I don't know what you're talking." He leand forward in mock seriousness. "Do you mind elaborating?" He whispered.
"Yes sir, I actually do mind. And do you know what?" I asked going along with his flirting by leaning in a little. "Your breath really stinks. Like bad." I finished smugly leaning back when the waiter came to take our orders.
I was in the middle of eating the best stuffed chicken I'd ever had in my life when the hairs on the back of my neck stood at attention.
"Either you have a very weird amirer, or that man that is glaring at the back of you head is a murder waiting to kill the both of usand we need to haul ass." Hayden stated in a conversational tone but I could tell he was only half kidding.
"I'm going to the restroom to talk to him. If I'm not back in five minutes, don't come after me. Just tell Anna..... A.N.D holding it down." I said a serious as Jennifer Lawrence in The Hunger Games movie.
It took everything in us not to bust out laughing on the spot.
I stood up, without even looking at him and headed to the restrooms.
