The next morning, the tension was a little better when I woke up and he was making my favorite breakfast, chicken and waffles with ice cream.

"Good morning."

"Morning. This smells like heaven." I complimented dryly.

"I'm trying to apologize for the way I behaved yesterday after the doctors visit." He huffed, not looking me in the eye.

"You did nothing wrong." I shrugged. "There's nothing to apologize for."

"But it is. I gave you the cold shoulder for something that had nothing to do with you. By the time I had come to my sences you were already in bed." Then he looked at me. "You had tears in you eyes, like you'd been crying."

'I was crying.'

"I don't remember crying. I just ate some fruit and balogna and went to bed."

"There were tears in you eyes and you were saying 'no, no.' I was in shock for like two whole minutes by the time my body connected to my brain you were already peaceful again but I stayed with you just so...... you know..." He trailed off. "Maple, blueberry, or strawberry?"

I took the strawberry syrup, "What were you upset about?" I asked looking him in the eyes to let him know he did not change the subject like he thought.

"If I lie to you, you'll know." He grumbled, then continued. "I was... after the ultrasound I began thinking it was me putting Cade in danger if you think about it. If they would have successfully kidnapped him, there would have been nothing that could stop them from wiping us all out. Me, you. Mom dad and the twins!" He breathed.
"They just want my money, but is it really necessary to kill all of us?"

The moment his question was out, the hairs on the back of my neck stood up. It seemed as if my blood ran cold. The feeling that we were being watched came over me. It took everything in me not to look around.

Alex had his head bent down, completely oblivious to the other sounds in the apartment.

*Flashback*

"Is it really necessary to have a gun here? We are in a fully secured building."

"Are you really questioning me about my motives? I will not depend souly on other people to preserve my life. And my unborn children!"

"We're not bringing a gun in here and that's final." Alex said turning to walk out of the office.

I refuse to surrender my natural self preservation to other individuals that I did not know. I mean, wasn't Aaron enough reason for him? What was so difficult about my reasoning?

"If we don't have a gun in this place, then I'm packing my bags right now." I told him coolly and attempted to walk past him when an arm came out and blocked my way.

"You will not be leaving this place. Under any circumstances without me or one of the gaurds."

The nerve!

"Oh. I didn't know I was in a prison. Am I being held captive against my will?" I asked sarcastically, "You should escort me back to my cell then." I said, holding my wrists out dramatically.

The look on his face told me his temperament just went up a couple of notches.

But at that point I really didn't give a fùck.

"We are not getting a gun!" He enunciated every word as if I was in kindergarten, sending my already short temper off of it's tee.

"Then we," I said pointing to my belly, "are not staying here." I told him using the same tone he did, walking to the master bedroom and into the closet to get things that I would need.
