Alex's POV
No, no, no, no, no.
Why did she have to do this. The first girl I've wanted to bring home in eight years and she just had to embarrass me like that!
Not only did she shatter my pride within seconds of seeing us, she called Ariel Kayla.
I didn't even know a Kayla. And by the look on Ariel's face, she caught that little slip up.
Yep. She's going to castrate me. Thanks mom!
"M-mom! This is Ariel Greene, the one I told you about a while ago. Where the hell did you get Kayla from?" I said louder than a normal inside voice. Opps.
She hit me on the back of my head harder than she ever had before.
Goddamnit!
How could a woman so little, hit so hard?
"Have you lost your mind if you ever curse at me again it will be the last thing you do! I know who this is! I was just teasing. Serves you right for not introducing me earlier! " she hit me again. She had probably hit me more in the last five minutes than she has in all of my 26 years.
She then turned back to Ariel who looked amused, shocked and most of all relieved. She hugged her once more. "Hi, Ariel," she emphasized her name. "I'm Sarah. I know your feet are probably hurting standing out here for so long. Come on in." She turned to me, "Pick her up and bring her in son, make yourself useful."
Ariel stood there in a trance, lost in thought so I decided to really pick her up. That snapped her out if it, but instead of protesting like I thought she would, she said, "That could have been worse. Oh and thank you, my feet were really killing me."
"Please tell me, how that could have been worse? My ego has been broken, with no way to repair it." I grumbled.
She laughed at me. Genuinely. That was probably worth having my pride killed. She had a beautiful smile and her laughter was probably the prettiest thing I'd ever heard.
God. I'm turning into a pùssy.
Her pùssy.
Jesus.
We entered the kitchen where my mother and father were sitting.
Many people have said I was the spitting image of my father, but just because we looked alike, didn't mean we got along in the least.
He treated my mom like a queen, with all the love and respect in the world. She doesn't take any of his bullshit. But because I'm in charge of his precious business, nothing I do is ever good enough.
"Father." I greeted him dryly, As I sat Ariel down in the double barstool so that I could sit beside her. My mother had placed some of her special lemonade in front of us.
"Alexander." He responded in the same curt tone. Then it changed all together, as he focused his attention on Ariel."You must be Ariel. You are so much more beautiful in person child. Alexander here's finally done something right." He actually smiled.
Really? Was he bipolar or something?
"Th-thank you Mr. Wright." Ari said nervously.
"Oh please call me James, Mr. Wright sounds too much like my son. It makes me feel older."
Ari gave a forced laugh. "Okay Mr. James."
I leaned over to whisper in her ear. "It's okay if you want to run. Because my dad has never acted like this before, and it's freaking me the hell out."
This time She stifled a real laugh.
"So how far along are you Ariel?" My mom asked trying to spark small talk.
"I'm about four months, although I probably look at least six months gone now though. We're having twins." She said in the same breath.
"Twins? That's great Jamie, it could be one for you and one for me!" She said excitedly.
What?
The look on Ariel's face screamed 'Hell no!' So I decided to cut in, "Mom, you cannot have our babies." I spoke as if I was speaking to a kindergartner so she could understand.
"Well you two will be too busy running two different companies, so I figured I could just be a permanent babysitter." She said nonchalantly with a too sweet smile.
"And corrupt the minds of out kids? No."
I saw the rage flair in her eyes right before Ariel stepped in, "I would really rather raise my own children. I'll take off the first year or so, so that I can create a stable home as their foundation. But a little help and advice is never unwelcomed." She smiled.
Got 'em.
My father stood up. He walked around the table and hugged me. He hasn't hugged me in the past eighteen years. "Son, I've never been more proud of you than I am now, for choosing a woman so perfect. If you mess this up I will personally kick your ass." He finished leaving me in shock.
"It was nice meeting you sweetheart," he addressed Ariel. "But if I don't go now I'll miss my tee time at the course." Her shook her hand quickly. Then he went over and gave my mom a sloppy kiss and was off.
I felt like a little boy wanting to cove my ears, squeeze my eyes shut, and scream Eww. But I kept my composure, rolling my eyes a little.
"Aren't you guys too old for that?" I asked in pure disgust.
"Love lasts a lifetime son." My mom answered, almost in a daze.
We sat sipping my mom's homemade lemonade for a while, then she asked Ariel to come with her. I felt sightly uncomfortable, but also very happy that my parents accepted her so wholeheartedly.
"Um, okay." Ariel said.
As I watched them walk away, I knew that I would Marry Ariel, probably later rather than sooner, but either way she was going to be my wife. Even if I had to drag her to the alter.
Maybe not then.
'Yeah pùssy, you love her too much to make her do something that wouldn't make her happy.' My inner voice said.
A few moments after my mom and Ariel was out of sight, the doorbell rang. I went to open the door because even though we had helpers, we never overworked them and have them do simple things we could do, although when I opened the door I wished I hadn't .
Lauren.
Shìt!
"Hi babe, you missed me?"
The she kissed me right on the lips.
"Wow." The familiar voice said without any emotion.
