Chapter 14: Dimension Detour

Chris, Carla and Luna were returning home after unexpectedly visiting another universe. "That was nice visiting that universe, Daddy!" said Luna. "Well, things didn't go exactly as planned but it all turned out good in the end." said Chris as Carla smiled. As they were leaving, suddenly an unknown figure was flying towards them. "Uh, who's that?" said Carla as Chris got in front of them. "Stay behind me." he said as he pulled out his staff. Suddenly, the figure throws a blast bomb towards Amoux, knocking him away from Carla and Luna. "Chris!!" yelled Carla as she held Luna tight while the figure dragged them to a different portal. "Carla!! Luna!!" yelled Chris as he fell into a different portal. He enters a different dimension as he crashed on top of a building, falling unconscious. Meanwhile, Carla was protecting Luna from the figure as she fought it off until they crashed into the dimension. The two stood and sees nothing but a wasteland. Villages in ashes, whilst fire remains. "Mommy...where are we?" asked Luna worriedly. "I don't know. Stay close." said Carla as suddenly an army of soldiers surround them. "Sir. We found them." said the commander. "Bring them to me." said a voice through a communicator. "Who are you? What do you want from us?" said Carla in a demanding tone with her blades in hand. "Our leader has been waiting for you. Come with us." said the commander as Carla and Luna were forced to follow while soldiers pointed their weapons towards them. Meanwhile, Chris regains consciousness and stood as he sees himself in a totally different dimension. "Where am I?" he said to himself as he looks into a city. "What dimension is this?" said Chris as he was about to leave to explore. Suddenly, a figure attacks him. He quickly recovers and sees a figure, wearing fox gear. "Who are you?" asked Amoux. "I should be asking you the same." said the figure as he leaps towards him with daggers. Quickly, Amoux pulls out his staff and forces him down with a slam with the handles. "Would you calm down? I'm not here to fight you!!" yelled Amoux as the figure gave in. "Who are you then?" asked the man. "I'm Amoux. I'm from the another dimension. You?" asked Amoux. "I'm Kitsune. The vigilante of this city." he replied. "Alright then. Where am I?" asked Amoux. "New York. Now, why are you here?" asked Kitsune. "I came here by mistake. I was on my way home with my wife and daughter until someone attacked us and we got separated." explained Amoux. "Wait, wait, you came from another dimension?" asked Kitsune. "Yes. I need to get to my family." said Amoux. "Alright. Come on. Let's get you patched up first." said Kitsune as he takes him to his base, the Fox den. "So how did you get here?" asked Kitsune. "My family and I were on our way home to our dimension until someone came and attacked us. He threw a bomb and we got seperated." explained Amoux. "Who was with you?" asked Kitsune. "My wife, Carla aka Aurora and our daughter, Luna. My real name is Chris." he said. "I'm Dante." he replied. "What about you? Got any family out here?" asked Chris. "Well...it's only me, my sister and my grandfather. My parents were killed a long time ago and my brother, well he's missing." said Dante. "I'm sorry." said Chris. "Thanks. I always thought I'd be the only one here." said Dante. Then, Chris's watch went off and sees Mei. "Chris? Can you hear me?" she asked. "Mei! I'm here." said Chris. "Where are you guys? Y'all should've came through the portal by now." said Mei. "We were coming home until someone attacked us and Carla and Luna got sent somewhere else. Can you get a fix on their location?" asked Chris as Mei looks on her computer. "Strange. The dimension is distant, I can't get a full fix on it. But from the dimension your in, you should be able to find them from there. You just need to find a lab with the same tech as mine. In the meantime, I'll try to get in touch with Carla." said Mei as Chris sighed. "Dante, do you happen to know where I can find a lab of some sort?" asked Chris. "Hmm. I think so. But I know someone who can help, but first, we need to get you in better gear." said Dante. "I don't know. This gear is ancient. My father wore this ever since and nothing has changed." said Chris. "Well buddy, this is my world your in and in my world, lots of organizations have overpowered gear and materials that your suit won't protect you." said Dante as Chris sighed before eventually allowing him to look at his gear. Meanwhile with Carla and Luna, they walked towards a fortress. "Mommy, what do we do?" asked Luna as Carla held her close to her side tightly. "I don't know, sweetie. But as long as we stick together, we'll be alright and your father will come to get us." said Carla, assuring Luna. Kitsune outfitted Amoux's suit with a white, black and golden suit with a light weighted metallic alloy that would protect him from most attacks, even the supernatural kind and spare copies of Kitsune's grappling hook gauntlets. Kitsune also modified Amoux's axes with a crystal from the moon of Kitsune's world which if Amoux channels his powers in it they can deal massive damage. "So what do you think?" asked Kitsune. "Huh. This actually looks pretty cool." Amoux replied. "Alright and here's my final gift to you, Amoux." said Kitsune as he hands him a hand cannon. "Uh, what is this?" asked Amoux. "This...is the Wolf's Howl hand cannon. A long barrel handgun with a dark metal alloy decorated with gold with a wolf engrave on the handle, with your trademark." said Kitsune. "Now this one, I'm not certain about that. All my years as the hero I've been, never once I used a gun of any sort. Plus they're lethal." said Amoux as Kitsune rolled his eyes. "I thought you might say that. Which is why I added a modification where only YOU can use the gun and it is non lethal. It would be lethal as a last resort if you allow it." said Kitsune. Amoux sighed deeply before nodding. "Please don't make me use this." he said in his thoughts as he takes the hand cannon. "Alright. If we need to find a lab, I know just the person to help." said Kitsune. "Alright. Let's get moving." said Amoux as they head off into the city. Meanwhile, Carla and Luna eventually arrived at the fortress. The commander lead them to an elevator as it heads to the top, where they see a figure, staring outside the window. "My master. We have brought them as you requested." said the commander. The figure then motioned his hand. "Leave us." he said as the commander left. "Look...I don't know who you are but we are in the wrong dimension and were trying to go home. My husband is coming for us." said Carla. "Your husband? As in Amoux?" asked the figure. Carla and Luna stare in confusion. "Y-Yes. How do you know him?" asked Carla. The figure then turns and steps down the stairs as he stepped close to Carla before taking off his mask. Carla and Luna's eyes widened as they see none other than Chris! "My name is Chris...but no longer Amoux. You...can call me Wolfbane." he said as Luna stood behind Carla in fear. Even though he is out to save his family, Chris would soon come across a dark path, facing the enemy within himself.

(A/N: There you have it. Wasn't expecting that plot twist? It took a while but managed to finish this chapter. Thought I could take a change of wind in the story.
