Chapter 22: Blind By Rage

Viperess and her army of hypnotized coyotes returned to the now destroyed Sanctuary. She then sat on the throne as she inhaled and exhaled deeply with a grin on her face. Meanwhile, Mei buried Carmen's corspe as Carla was hugging Leo tightly before having a glare on her face. "Stay here." she said as she stood and walked. "What are you going to do?" asked Mei. "I'm going to do something I should've done a long time ago." said Carla. "Well I'm going with you." said Leo. "No! Your staying here with Mei." said Carla. "But Mom." said Leo. "NO 'buts' Leo. Stay. Here." said Carla sternly as she heads into the forest. "Mei, we have to follow her! I got a bad feeling about what she'll do." said Leo. "Your probably right. Let's go." said Mei as the two stow away and follow her. "Mei, is there anyway we can save Kayla?" asked Leo. Mei's eyes widened before smiling at Leo. "I think I have a way of saving her. We got to get to my lab." said Mei.

Carla was walking through the forest with the intention of revenge. She was blindsided by rage and vengeance. Meanwhile, Viperess was admiring her work among the Nightwolf tribe when suddenly, two coyotes came flying through the door, causing a torch to fall over and fire spreading. Viperess looks up and sees Carla walking through the fire with her daggers out. "KAYLA!!" shouted Carla in anger. She then stood. "Well, looks who back for more." said Viperess. "You and I...have some unfinished business that needs to be settled." said Carla in anger. "Fine. Let's get this over with." said Viperess as the two charged towards each other

Meanwhile, Mei and Leo managed to sneak into the Sanctuary and into Mei's lab. "So what's the plan?" asked Leo. "I managed to get a sample of Kayla's venom. I can make a anti-venom serum and with it, we could possibly save her." said Mei. "Alright, so what do we need to do?" asked Leo. "I'm gonna get started on the serum. You keep a lookout. Make sure no one sees us and keep an eye on your mom." said Mei as Leo nodded. Leo locks the door shut as he looks outside the window and sees his mother taking on his aunt.

Kayla would tried to easily take advantage of Carla's rage but Carla would instead parry her attacks and deliver multiple strikes to her midsection before kicking her into a tree. It would then slowly start to rain. Kayla quickly got up with a glare. "Get her!" she shouted as the coyotes run towards her. That didn't stop Carla and her anger as one by one she would take them out with ease. "Impossible." said Viperess as she pulled out a dagger. Carla was distracted giving Viperess the advantage and stabbed Carla in her midsection as she screamed in pain. She breathed heavily as she looked at her sister. "Now I get to watch you die by my hand. You are weak! Just like Mom." said Viperess as Carla slowly growled. "Now you get to join her and your family! I did have plans for your husband. I wanted to hypnotize him and have him be MY husband." said Viperess as she evilly chuckled. Carla snapped. She lets out a scream of anger as a lightning blast emerged, sending Kayla into rocks. She looks up and sees Carla in her wolf form. Carla's eyes were bright yellow as she looks down at the blade in her midsection and removes it with no ease. She then charged towards Viperess and delivered an onslaught of punches. She grabbed her by her throat and slams her on a tree stump. She would continue to pummeling her until slamming her to the ground. 

Leo watches in shock. "Mei! Hurry! She's gonna kill her!!" shouted Leo in panic. "Almost got it! Done!" said Mei as she held a pill. "We just need Kayla to consume this." said Mei. "But how?" asked Leo as Mei puts a pill in a bullet and takes out a rifle. "We'll just have to aim it in." said Mei. "We can't put it in a syringe?" asked Leo. "If we did, it will be hard for it to penetrate the skin. All we need to do is to hold her still and make her eat this." said Mei.

A weakened Kayla struggled to escape from Carla's grip but Carla pulled out her blade and held it by her throat. Kayla slowly chuckled. "You...you think you won? I've got what I wanted. I took away your family and now the REAL you is out." said Kayla. Carla huffed and puffed as she glared at her. "You took...EVERYTHING from me. My pack, my daughter......MY husband. I've spent years with him by my side. I loved him!!" shouted Carla. Leo and Mei arrived as Leo stared in shock. "And you killed our mother. OUR mother!! Who has raised us since...DAY...ONE!!! Time to say goodbye...sister." said Carla as she was about to kill Kayla. "STOP!!!" shouted Leo as Carla froze and turned to her son, who was frightened and in tears. "Mom...please...don't do this." he begged. "Leo...stay out of this!!" said Carla as she glared at Kayla. "Mom! Your giving her what she wants. She's taking advantage of your anger! How will Dad and Luna think of this?" said Leo as Carla stopped.

She had flashbacks of all the times she had with her family. Starting with her relationship with Chris, being pregnant with Luna and the moments she had with her, getting married with Chris, all the adventures they were on, being pregnant with Leo and forming a strong bond with him and finally the moments she had with her mother, Carmen. "Even though there are dark moments in our pasts...we cannot let if affect our future. You have a great thing going here, Carla. You met Chris, fell in love, you both went on adventures, you have kids and you have a big family. Cherish it." said Carmen in her thoughts. Carla slowly shed tears as she turns back to her normal form and releases Kayla from her grasp as she coughed heavily. Carla then slowly approached Leo as she silently cried. "Leo.......I'm so sorry. I never meant to snap in front of you, traumatizing you. I'm a terrible mother!!" said Carla as she fell on her knees and sobbed. Leo approached her and gently hugs her head. "It's okay." whispered Leo.

Kayla slowly recovers and sees the mother and son. "Aww, that's pretty cute. Unfortunately though...it has to end." said Kayla as she pulled out a detonator. Carla's ears perked up. "Leo!!" shouted Carla as she covered her and explosion set off, seperating Carla and Leo from Mei. Carla was unconscious as Leo tends to her. "Mom? Mom! Wake up!!" said Leo. He heard footsteps as he sees Kayla approach him. "Sorry you had to see that, nephew. It was time." she said. Leo stood in front of his mother. "Leave her alone." warned Leo as Kayla laughed. "And what are you gonna do about it?" she asked as she takes out her fangs, ready to strike. "Time to die!!" shouted Viperess as she was about to kill Leo when an arm blocks the fang and bashed her away. Leo covered his eyes and eventually opened his eyes and sees two figures in front of him.
