Emergency Meeting

"So you're saying, he's quitting?" Tubbo asked. He was sitting on Tommy's bed, while his friend sat in his gaming chair. Tommy had called for an emergency meeting as soon as his last stream had ended. They once had made a pact, a few years back, to get to the other person's house, the minute one of them would call for an emergency. He needed someone to talk about it. Now. Not just over discord, but someone physically present next to him.

"YES, exactly! I just don't get it. He worked for it all these years and now he's just throwing it all away. Can you believe it?!"

Tubbo was calmer about the situation than Tom wanted him to be. He just sat there and tilted his head to the side. He didn't look worried. He didn't look sad. He looked more so confused about Tommy's behavior.
"Have you ever- and I mean this in the least sarcastic way possible, have you ever thought about the fact, that your presence made entirely public, even when it brings you fame and friends and money, is not the ideal life for everybody. He know him. He's struggled with a few different things in the past. Is it so surprising lack of privacy could be one of them? And maybe he just doesn't like streaming anymore. It can be quite exhausting sometimes, you should know that. "

Tommy looked out his window, wanting to avoid eye contact. It was still warm outside and flowers were blooming. The day was coming to an end. It could have been such a great day.

" I know you're disappointed and all, but really, it's not as bad as you think. Your friendship with him isnt purely because of twitch or YouTube, even if that's how it started. And you can talk to him-"  "anytime I feel like it. I somewhat know. You're beginning to sound like him."

"We should support him in his decision,Tom. He helped us plan our future when we decided to drop out of school, too."

Those were the words he needed to hear to realize. He needed to be a better friend. He'd accept Wilbur's new job. Eventually. He could do no more than try. Still, he couldn't ignore Wil's interaction with that woman in the back of his head. He heard the whole thing. That wasn't how he usually talked to women. While, he did sound genuine about knowing her all to well. He could tell, there was something there between them.

To the surprise of Tubbo, a wide smile appeared on Tommy's face. He had found just the right way, to see the situation from a new perspective. It was his way of staying optimist.

He pushed himself away from his desk, rolling closer in his chair to Tubbo. He leaned forward, resting his forearms on his thighs.

"There's one thing I haven't told you about. No worries, this might not be exactly a change of topic, but I wanna make a bet. Listen, when Wil and I were talking, he got this call... "

After a few minutes of discussing the stakes and conditions of the bet, they sealed the deal with a hand shake. It had gotten pretty late and Tubbo decided to stay over for the night. They ended up ordering pizza.
For Tubbo, it was just another sleepover at a friend's. For Tommy, it was a throwback to the time he wasn't famous. To the time, he just started streaming. He slowly made his first friends online, Tubbo being one of the earliest ones, he had made. Meeting irl for the first time meant the world to him and back then, he had no idea where the time would take him. He hadn't even met Wilbur yet. He knew him, of course. He had been one of his favorite youtubers and was growing a following on twitch just as fast. In no world would he have thought, that they'd become friends one day. Now, he couldn't even imagine, not having him as a friend.

In a way, not being famous was easier. The longer he thought about it that evening, the more he understood Wil.
