* "I wanna be yours" by the arctic monkeys starts playing *

Slowly Wilbur woke up. Rolling around in bed a few times, feeling completely disoriented, he came to his senses. It had been a long time, since he had to wake up that early. He could chose the times he had to get up for the past years. And not once had it been this early. Like damn, it was 6 am and he was anything but ready to get up. He reached for his night stand, somewhat petting it, has he tries to turn off his alarm.
If this song has going to wake him up every morning, he'd hate it by the end of the week. And he thought it being one of his favorite songs was going to help. Nonsense.

He pulled himself out of the bed and plodded to the bathroom. There he took his sweet time to get ready. He took a warm shower to wash of his tiredness. It was relatively chilly in his apartment, so he decided to go for a white shirt with a flannel left open over it. And for the way there, he'd need a jacket as well. That way, if it was gonna be too hot later, he could take of the different layers to adapt to the weather.

He would settle for a quick breakfast on the go. He had seen a bakery last time he drove there. A sandwich and a coffee latté would do. Wilbur had bought a brown leather shoulder bag a week ago. He had previously measured his laptop to make sure it would fit in it just fine. Additionally, he grabbed his keys and his phone and out the door he was.

He got to the office building in time. It wasn't necessary tall. Plain white walls, but the green bushes with colorful flowers in from of it made up for it. He was gonna be working on the second floor. The highest there was.
He was nervous, not in a panicking way, but not in an excited way either. There was so much ahead of him today. A million questions he'd have to ask till he felt like he was a proper employee there.

He entered the building. They had air conditioning which he hadn't noticed before. The pleasant cold wind gave him a chance to clear his mind. He took a deep breath as if he could cool his nerves if he just got in enough of it. The complex had an elevator, but Wil went for the stairs. The walls were a little more colorful from the inside. Darker shades of green, blue and burgundy, all combined with shades of gray. Everything looked so mature. It made him realize. This was his first proper "adult job".

Once he was on the right floor, he took a turn to the left and walked up to the door he had passed through for the first time not even two weeks ago.
It was a glass door which pushed him to go in without a lot of hesitation. Besides, he didn't want to look like an idiot waiting behind a see-through door as if he was waiting to be let it.

"Good morning!" he greeted everyone with the softest smile he had that passed him. He needed to look well put together. Like he knew what he was doing, which, let's face it, he didn't.
For God's sake, even the desk he'd be working on was still a surprise gift he had yet to open. At least he knew exactly who to ask for help.

Y/N. She was engrossed in her work, eyes fixed on her screen. Completely in her own world. He thought it was kinda cute, how diligent she was. A trait he found highly intriguing in a person.  "Good morning!" he greeted her enthusiastically. She flinched, making a quiet noise similar to a hickup. "How long have you been standing- nevermind."she shrieked, then paused for second to catch her breath. "Good morning" The corners of her mouth rose, forming a friendly smile. Wilbur only now noticed the dark circles under her eyes. She looked overworked and it was only Monday. "You didn't get too much sleep last night, did you, sunshine?" He eyes narrowed. The last word slipped out, before he could catch it. She looked surprised and he didn't know, whether it was because of the personal question or the cheesy nickname. Probably both.

"Uh no, I went to bad way too late. I was very determined to finish something and lost track off time. Plus, coffee was not really a tranquilizer. But it happens, right?"

He gave her an agreeing nod.
"Do you know where exactly I'll be working? I was hoping you could help me with that."

She got up and came to the other side of the desk, now standing next to him. "Follow me, Sir" she said in an overly formal tone before giving him a wide grin.

They maneuvered their way through other people's desks that were all separated by thin beige plastic walls. Wilbur guessed, they were supposed to evoke a sense of privacy in some way.

To his surprise, the both of them walked right past them, down a short corridor with milky glass doors. His new coworker stopped on one of the left doors. Office room 12, as a sign next to the door showed.

"I get a room of my own?" he had already prepared himself to settle for one of them main room desk.  "Luxary, I know. You see, most of the others only have part time jobs. We don't have as many full time workers as you think. But those we have, have the privilege of passing their time in one of those bad boys." She opened the door, revealing a small room with a desk in front of a big window, a small shelf, a bin and two chairs, one behind the desk and a spare one in the corner of the room. The desk was mostly empty, only a silver pencil holder with two or three pens in it on a stack of blank paper. The walls were white and gave the room a clean look. On one of them there was a bulletin board.

"Wow, this is nice." He stepped in to admire his new little world some more. He almost forgot that there was still a person at the door.

Y/N cleared her throat to get Wil's attention. "I'm excited to see what you'll make of it. Feel free to decorate it to your taste. Chekhov will check on you in a bit to. He'll explain to you your first assignments. In the future, I'll be the one to deliver those. I have to get back to work now. Get comfy!" She was just about to leave, but turned her head to him for just a few seconds longer. "Oh, and welcome to the team! If you need anything, just let me now." She winked at him before disappearing once more.

Wilbur sat down in the chair of the desk. This was something he could get used to. This was something he wanted to get used to.
