JASON

Jennifer solved a lot of problems for me. The day before, I was obsessively thinking of how I was going to get new workers and how the restaurant would be more exposed but she brought this up at the perfect time. I was elated, which was why I jumped for joy when I discovered that Media Maven was going to collaborate with Bri's restaurant and bar.

It was 2 years old but it was thriving. However, we needed more exposure, enough exposure even, which was imminent due to what Jennifer mentioned to us.

After apologizing to Dennis again, we started preparing for the interview. The guys were late for work so they left, leaving the interview to me. They said they were leaving it in good hands.

As soon as they left, Jennifer and I moved to the table, the same place we sat last night, for the interview. I watched her bring out her phone and a notebook, and a pen from her bag. She picked up her phone for something and dropped it back after 10 seconds, then looked up at me.

"I turned on my sound recorder, so if I don't jot down some vital points, it would grasp all the information for me." She said and I nodded my head in acknowledgment.

"Alright, let's begin." She opened the notebook, picked up the pen, started tapping it on the notebook, and stared into space.

She looked like she was thinking. I was waiting patiently for her to start.

It felt like a minute passed before she spoke.

"I just thought about it, I don't think I was fully honest with Dennis." She said.

"Why?" I leaned on the table with my elbows, intrigued.

"When he asked why I picked this bar for the next charity event, I had no reason in mind. However, I feel it was because I felt safe and at home when I walked into this place for the very first time." She replied and I displayed a satisfied smile.

"Thank you," I said.

She smiled and looked at me. "Ready?"

I nodded, "Ready."

She penned something unclear in the book. "When did you open this bar?"

"I think I've said this several times," I responded and she laughed.

"Yes, yes you have. I just wanted to ask again, for professionalism." She replied and I snorted.

"Originally, I have always wanted to own a bar. It just felt right. It was one of the professions I dreamed of being as a kid honestly. I grew up watching a lot of shows that portrayed bar owners and the likes so, I found it fascinating."

I paused. She penned down something again but I didn't bother looking.

"Initially, I was a full-time software developer at CodeMasters." I smiled proudly as I added.

She looked at me, in shock. "You? Wow, that's so cool! Did you leave CodeMasters to own a bar? There must be a reason for that." She said and my smile faded.

Yes, there was a reason for that.

I think noticed my mood change because she quickly sidetracked.
