JASON

I looked at my phone for the umpteenth time, eyes fixated on the word "friendship". For some odd reason, it didn't sit well with, I didn't know why. That word felt uncomfortable. Why? I didn't know but I didn't like that word. However, I didn't want to push it. I didn't want to jeopardize the friendship either so I typed that I understood when deep down, I didn't want that. Dennis and Jonathan had left again, so I was all alone. I was sitting by the bar, staring at the beach, lost in thought.

My mind went back to the charity event that was coming. I didn't want this opportunity to pass me by so I was willing to be whatever she wanted me to be. Be it a friend or a business partner.

Standing up from the bar, I felt dizzy all of a sudden. Was I going under the weather? I knew that I wasn't really a fan of the cold so I tried as much as possible to cover up. Maybe that wasn't enough. Going to my contact list, I dialed Dennis.
" What's up, bro? Done packing up?" He greeted me as he picked up the call.

" Yeah, I was about to go upstairs but I felt weak all of a sudden," I replied rubbing my temple.

" Should I stop by?" He asked sounding worried.

" No, it's okay," I answered as I felt a cough begin to form.

" How about you go home and I open up tomorrow?" He suggested. I was grateful to have a friend like him who was understanding. Smiling to myself, I stood up and walked towards the entrance.

" Sure, thank you so much, Dennis," I said with nothing but sincerity.

"Of course, that's what brothers are for." He concluded, cutting the call.

Yeah. Brothers. That's what we were.

JENNIFER

"This is a really good report Jennifer, one of the best I've seen." Mr. Alex said, dropping my file on his desk. I smiled proudly because I thought it wasn't one of the best. "You made the right choice by choosing this place. What inspired you?" He asked.

"I love going to the beach a lot. Recently, I discovered the place and if I'm being honest, it is one of the best places I've ever been in. The peace and homeliness it exudes are out of this world." I said. He nodded his head in awe. He looked impressed. "You said this was once a beach house, right?"

"Yes, the owners purchased and renovated it," I replied.

"Wow, that is impressive. I'm sure they're glad that you're taking their business to the next level." He said and I smiled because they were. "How are the preparations going?" He asked.

"So far, so good. I've created the social media account so it is left to numerous upload pictures which I'll do today. Everything is being taken care of boss, don't you worry" I responded.

"I trust you. Don't worry about the sponsors. I'll help with that. I have a few people I could talk to. Just do your part." He said. I was so happy. Mr. Alex was doing a huge favor because he knew so many important people so definitely, the people coming that day weren't going to be people in high ranks.

"Thank you so much, boss," I said, grinning widely. As I got up to take my leave, he spoke again, "I'm sorry for asking you out for drinks. I shouldn't have done that. It was very wrong of me." He pleaded shyly. My heart melted. At first, I thought it was going to cause an issue between both of us at work but I forgot that not all bosses were jackasses.
