The months went by like birds soaring fast in the sky. No matter how many hours or days passed, the days of Dossroc remained the same. The Washingtonia filifera and Mexican fan palm trees stood tall all around the streets. There were palm trees everywhere you went to create the perfect summer vibe. Young boys rode their bikes all around the streets and sidewalks. They swerved their bike when they saw a crack on the sidewalk to avoid falling. The sidewalks were not completely solid. The bikers and pedestrians on the sidewalk saw tiny bags of cocaine, needles, and trash on the ground.
Sosaville was calm for the moment. On the other hand, MAVET5 was taken effect in Jasmine City. Jasmine City was still high on crime. Every two days there was someone dead on the road. Catalinas remained an evil woman.
In the middle of the night, on a hot August, the Esteban family was in Dreamwood Hospital. Laura was in the emergency room holding her new baby girl. David and John were behind Laura watching the baby girl cry.
"What you named her?" John asked.
"Her name is Sarah, Sarah Esteban," David said.
"I was asking mom," John said.
"Well, I am telling you the answer," David said.
"Okay, boys, not now, and yes, her name is Sarah," Laura said.
"I told you," David said.
Later that night, they decided to return home after being in the hospital for three days. The four of them waited outside the hospital doors for a taxi. It was incredibly loud outside; many cars were seen and heard driving by. John heard the traffic as he wandered around and looked up to the palm trees. He felt peace inside of him. John enjoyed watching the car's headlights passed by. The scenery made him feel he was out late at night in the streets. John turned and saw the Dreamwood sign from far away, "Them rich people," he said.
The night breeze hit them lightly, "When this Taxi gonna come? I'm getting cold," David said. The minutes went by like a snail, and the family became frustrated. Ten minutes went by, and a taxi got seen from far away as it entered the hospital. The taxi pulled over next to them. They all got in the taxi struggling to fit in comfortably. The three of them sat on the back while baby Sarah laid on Laura's lap. Once they were all settled, the taxi drove them back home to Sosaville. In the car, the taxi driver tuned to the radio, 'Brothers and sisters, welcome back to Reggae Roots 101. Violence, violence is still in them streets. Three Lord and Barbaric are still at war. Be careful out in that world. Marblelano is still wanted; if you see her, tell somebody. Too much hate in the world! We need love. Somebody hunt down and throw the devil out of this country once after all. Me don't like blood, blood. Jesus Christ is coming! Be watchful my friends.'
Calmly, Laura hummed her lullaby to baby Sarah in a very soothing tone. John rested his head on the window and looked out to see what was going on. He gaped at everything as he listened to his mommy's lullaby. John gazed at the palm trees, the city lights, and he enjoyed the ride. While the taxi drove through the middle of the streets, he saw gangsters riding on their bikes, some gathered at corners, and saw some having a verbal argument with each other. Sadly, he noticed from a distance a few prostitutes waving cars down. The ride back home got tiring and boring. John felt sleepy and closed his eyes as his mom's humming slowly faded. Later that night, they finally arrived home after twenty minutes. The minute the Esteban family walked into their home, they went straight to their room and got ready to sleep.
The next morning, the sun was brighter. Everyone woke up from the sunshine and got ready for the day. David got ready for work and John for his first day of high school while mom stayed home to nurture Sarah. The boys were all set to go and headed out the door at the same time; neither of them said goodbye to each other. John's friend, Derrick, was waiting for John by the porch.
