Her words, tender and sincere, shrouded me with gentleness.

"Thank you, Mia. And look at you... You are looking beautiful in this dress,"

With a nod, Mia took hold of my hand, and together we went to where her family was being seated.

They sparkled with joy as soon as they saw me

They sparkled with joy as soon as they saw me. Mrs. Oberoi encircled me in a hug.

"Baccha," she whispered. Her hug radiates warmth and pure love. Gently pulling away, her hand caressed my cheek as she kissed my forehead.

Her affection always caught me by surprise—a comforting hug that made me feel special and at home. I smiled

"Thank you, Mrs. Oberoi."

The rest of the family welcomed me with open arms. Sakshi, Mia's sister-in-law, approached me.

"I was just wondering why you hadn't arrived yet. You look stunning, my dear!" she cried, wrapping me in a warm hug.

"Thank you, Shakhi. Your kind words mean a lot, and you look resplendent tonight," I replied.

The two kids, their tiny arms enveloping me in a hug. Their joy and adoration were palpable as they called me.

"Di," and Vihaan couldn't hold his excitement. "You are so pretty!" he exclaimed.

Sakshi, surprised by her son's newfound zeal, said, This is the first time he's been this excited. You've truly captured his heart," she said.

My attention briefly drifted to Mr. Manish Oberoi, engaged in conversation with other guests. Our eyes met, and he graciously excused himself from his company. "You're here, my child," he said, hugging me from the side.

"Thank you, Mr. Oberoi. It's an honor to be here." I replied.

Mia's delicate touch embraced my hand. "Allow me to introduce you to my friends and special guests," she murmured, guiding me through the crowd.

Just as we prepared to embark, Vihaan and Kriti grabbed hold of our sleeves. Their eyes sparkled with anticipation as Vihaan pleaded in his endearing baby voice, "Can we come? We want ice cream!" Kriti's voice chimed in, sweet and eager. "Pwease, pwease!"

"Okay, my lovable adventurers," she said, "you can. But remember, we must be on our best behavior, and we will have some delicious ice cream together." Mia said.

Mia ordered the staff to help take care of the children as she shifted her focus to introducing me to her circle of friends.

A sudden interruption spread in the air, my phone ringing and demanding attention. Reflecting on the screen, I saw my mother's name. Though I initially planned to return her call once I arrived at the party,

"I apologize, everyone," I interjected, taking a moment to apologize. With a touch of apprehension, I held the phone to my ear, expecting my mother's sweet voice.

However, the connection failed, making her words slightly audible.

Frustration was visible across my brow. I hurriedly checked my network settings, hoping for a swift solution.

Noticing my worry, Mia approached with genuine concern etched on her face.

Placing a comforting hand on my arm, I said, "Look outside to find a better signal. It's important to address her call."

And I nodded, accepting her. Excusing myself from the group, I made my way toward the outdoors, wishing for a stronger connection.

As I went into the open air, I answered my mother's call again, the urgency of our conversation lingering in the back of my mind.

Unfortunately, the network was still weak.

In a voice with reassurance, I gently spoke into the phone, "Mom, there's no need to worry. I've reached safely "

Her concerned voice passed through the receiver as she questioned the timing of my arrival and when I intended to return home. She lovingly advised that I not eat cold foods and drinks. My mom expressing her concern for my health was so cute.

"Mom, I promise to call you back soon. I'll take care and remember everything you just said." I am grateful for her love.

"Good night, Mom," before ending the call. As the connection severed, I paused for a moment, feeling love and longing for her company. I missed her so much.

Just as I began to move, a figure appeared from the shadows. His sudden sight caught me off guard. Startled, I returned his surprise. My interest was high by his incidental appearance. He seemed to be invited to this party, yet his intent for seeking me out was mysterious.

"Do you have a lighter?" the stranger asked in an urgent voice. At that moment, I felt a flicker of hope, believing for a brief second that I might have the very thing he was looking for.

I responded apologetically, "I'm sorry, but I don't carry a lighter."

Undeterred by my response, he asked, And Cigarette, sorry, I need to smoke."

Sensing the brevity of our exchange, I offered a simple and standard reply, "No, I don't carry either," I didn't want to force myself to engage further in conversation.

With a polite nod, I started to make my way back to the party.

The stranger's voice shot throughout once again. Their ongoing questioning caught me off guard, leaving me shortly taken aback.

"I've never seen you before. Do you work for Oberoi?" He inquired, the tone touch with interest and suspicion on the other side.
