Two Days after the storm.

E.J's POV:
I've been staying with Gina at Miss Jenn's house since the storm passed a day ago.
Miss Jenn went to find Ri when I told her that he left and I guess Nini followed her.
Salt Lake City looks like a mess outside and it's definitely not safe to drive.
I've been texting and calling my cousin for updates on her safety and Maddox's disappearance.
Ricky was right, Jet and Maddox went to Mako.
I don't know what happened to them or what they were looking for.
Gina was going to Mako but then the power went out and she got scared.
I cuddled with her two days ago since I was scared too.
I was scared of what the storm could do to my merpeople friends, not because of the heavy rain and the destruction to people's houses it caused.
"E.J., maybe I should go look for Miss Jenn and Nixie. It's been two days and thankfully, the power is back on. But I am worried about my family. I can feel it in my body, my powers. Something has gone terribly wrong." I look up from my place on the couch where I was watching the weather report and see Gina walk into the living room holding a bowl of mushy sea paste.
I think that she said it's eye cream or seaweed smoothie or something for mermaid self-care.
I wasn't really paying attention.
I was thinking about Ricky.
"What do you mean? Are your powers gone?" I turn the TV off and pat a space for her to sit.
"I've been feeling very weak. Maybe it's hormones or my red blood cell count. We learned about that stuff in school. I actually like human school and hope that we can go back." I wrap my arms around her shoulders to side hug her and can feel her body temperature.
Gina is freezing and she hasn't mentioned anything over the past two days.
"I miss Ricky." I blurt out loud.
I know that Gina already knows it.
She sees our bond and relationship every day but I have never actually said those words out loud.
"I miss Nini. I miss calling her Nixie and annoying her and then flirting with her. I miss her smell and her hair. She is the most beautiful mermaid I've met since my mom and dad separated. Ryn, doesn't know this but Ni and Ryn are my family. I think that he believes that he's the only one who has a broken family and just doesn't see anyone else's problems. I don't talk to him about my personal life much. I'm more like his second sister." I cuddle up with Gina and can feel her tears fall onto my shoulder.
"They'll come back. I just know it." I stroke her hair to calm her down since it helped Ricky when he had an anxiety attack.
"We're back. Well, kind of." I see Miss Jenn walk into the door holding onto Nini, or as Gina calls her Nixie.
"Where's Ricky?" I immediately notice the missing third person despite Nini's injury.
"E.J., sweetie. We can talk about it later. I need to get Nini some medicine and a safe place to sleep." I watch Miss Jenn ignore my question.
She's my teacher, she's also Ricky's guardian.
She's not supposed to ignore her student's questions.
"Where's Ricky" I demand and ignore Nini who seems injured and asleep.
