hanbin walked over to the door as he heard the rushed knock, opening the door to reveal his frantic mother who seemed to come over as quickly as she could. as his mom burst through the door she held diapers, a blanket, a bottle, formula, and many other baby items. she noticed another young male on the couch who was entertaining the baby with a small toy.
she looked up at her son in surprise slightly whispering "That's the boy from the cafe". hanbin smiled "Well welcome to you too Mom, he's a close friend", "A friend, or boyfriend" she teased him. he could feel the blush spreading across his cheeks as he sighed and showed her in. "it seems you both have this under control, she's not even fussing," she said walking over to hao and the baby. hao bowed his head to show respect and reached his hand out to greet her, "hello mrs. sung nice to see you again". he stepped up off the couch with the baby girl and handed her to hanbin "It's your turn to play" he laughed lightly. hanbin sat with the girl on the couch and picked up the small toy distracting her to make sure she didn't fuss.
the girl was oddly calm with the two of them, as if the two were already her parents, even though neither had even thought of it. "so, have you decided what you're going to do hanbin?" his mom questioned. he hadn't put much thought into the decision since he was so distracted by keeping her occupied. "well, i'm not sure I can do it alone that's the only problem" he sighed, "so I suppose we're going to have to bring her to foster care". he felt emotional, even if he had just met this baby not even an hour ago. hao also felt a small sadness as he grew to like the baby girl very quickly.
"well you and hao looked like you had it under control, why don't you two take care of her together?" she smiled knowing she would spark some awkwardness. both hao and hanbin looked at each other and then the older lady in confusion. "us?" they said in unison. why were they so coordinated even when it came to speaking....... "well i know you two might not live together but maybe one of you could take care of her every couple of days when another gets tired?". hanbin didn't think it was a bad idea but he wasn't sure if hao had felt comfortable enough yet to even consider co-parenting with someone he just met not that long ago. he rested his hand on the elder's shoulder as if asking him to come to talk in private. "could you watch her mom" hanbin asked handing her the baby.
hanbin led hao to the hallway outside his apartment, hao was quiet waiting for hanbin to spark the conversation. "well, i know this is an awkward situation, and you can leave if you'd like she made a stupid statement and i know you probably aren't comfortable" he sighed, he didn't want his first couple of encounters with hao to have been as awkward as they have been. hao put his hand on hanbin's shoulder, "it's practically just babysitting isn't it? i don't really see why it would be bad when i'm home from school" he smiled. hanbin wasn't sure if he had heard the boy right, he was willing to take care of the girl? i suppose it didn't mean anything romantic and he was right it practically was just babysitting.
"plus i wouldn't want your time at the company to diminish, we have really important things coming up," hao said as he pats the younger back. "you're right, i'm just so surprised you didn't just run away" he joked, "well I would've run when i saw the baby in the first place if i wanted to leave" hao reassured the boy. "well then, let's do this shit" hanbin smiled and lead the boy back into the apartment. "we'll take her mom," he said proudly. his mom got up patting the two boys on the head "i will help you both get the things you may need to take care of her, you guys really should think of a name though i hate to keep calling this baby by something other than her name". they both had forgotten that the decision would be based on their choices now since they technically were her dads. "well i have an idea" hao said almost in a whisper, but loud enough for hanbin to catch it. "we could name her Jia" he spoke his idea into existence unsure if hanbin would approve. "and she could take your last name so it'd be Sung Jia" he smiled.
hao looked at the younger for approval, he seemed to be thinking a lot about the decision. he grew nervous that he might have overstepped a boundary. "I love it!" hanbin exclaimed and ran over to Jia. "Sung Jia, such a beautiful name for a beautiful girl" he poked the girl's rosy cheeks as she giggled. hao felt something move in his stomach, he felt like he was watching his husband as they decided to name their child, and it made tears brim his eyes. he wasn't sure what he was feeling because he knew hanbin didn't consider the situation romantic at all, it would be too soon for that anyways.. right?
