Sunlight poured into the eastern part of the bedroom where (y/n) slept, waking her from the lovely slumber she had experienced the night prior.

She fluttered her eyes open and glanced around her room, taking in the scenery that stood before her. Her beautiful tall ceilings and brightly painted walls filled her with euphoria, as they always did when she woke up.

(Y/n) slowly got out of bed and grabbed her robe, throwing it gently around her shoulders as she walked over to the window to check for any action the morning.

Her house stood on a river that ran into Charleston, and to her luck, her bedroom faced the water. She watched a couple of ships go by before deciding to part from the beautiful morning bustle and get dressed.

She opened her spacious closet which revealed fashionable choices for dresses, making her decision rather difficult. However, her eyes landed on a pink dress that sat in the corner of the closet and she grabbed it.

She undressed from her pajamas and then stepped into her outfit for the day, carefully zipping it up. It hugged her in all the right places, especially the hips. She then walked over to the mirror to touch up her hair and apply some light makeup before running down the stairs to greet her parents in the morning.

The smell of coffee and freshly baked pastries aroused her nose as she glided down the stairs gracefully and ventured into the large dining room where her parents sat.

"Good morning." She said with a gentle voice. Her parents looked up at her with a smile.

"Good morning, doll." Her father responded, placing the Saturday newspaper on the table. He picked up his cup of coffee and took a sip as (y/n) sat down at one of the spots placed at the table.

"Beautiful day out, isn't it?" She said with a smile, "I was thinking of going into town today."

Her mother raised an eyebrow, "is that so? I heard there's a good sale going on at the one supply store... maybe you can start looking at stuff for college, hm?"

The word college burned (y/n)'s heart, she had just finished school and her mother was already pushing her towards the next step when summer had just started. Perhaps there was a different meaning to it such as leaving earlier than intended. Since that sounded like something her mother would do, she didn't doubt it but she had hoped this wasn't the case.

"I'll pay the store a visit when I'm out." (Y/n) responded.

"Wonderful... we would join you but we have to be at the country club today for cocktails with the Forester's."

"What? Why?" (Y/n)'s heart skipped a beat, why were they getting together without her? What were they hiding?

"To discuss a few things regarding your future."

Those words replayed in her mind and tugged at her heartstrings. What did her mother mean by that? What kind of future were they talking about? Were she and Floch to be wed or engaged? It was impossible considering she'd be leaving for college soon, and she didn't even like Floch... but at the same time it was very feasible since mother had pushed everything in the direction she had wanted.

However... maybe it was something better, perhaps they were getting rid of him, or sending him away to university earlier than he was scheduled to go... but whatever it was, she was still anxious to know.
