Jean stared at the girl in front of him for what felt like an eternity. He took note of her features and how much she had changed over the years. She was the same but seemed a little more mature. His gaze softened and he soon realized that he had manifested this moment and he wasn't regretting it. He felt jubilant at the fact that what he said to Eren the previous day about her coming back was true. After a few moments of unspoken silence, he finally spoke up.

"What are you doing here?"

(Y/n) shied a little from his gaze and glanced around the exterior of the home, "I... heard about the house and I wanted to check up on you..."

Jean narrowed his eyes, was that all? Or was she hiding something underneath that skin of hers? He gave her a slight nod and answered, "Well... I've been fine."

"Good..." (y/n) finally met his gaze and then noticed a bruise forming on his jaw, "uh... are you sure?"

Jean realized what she noticed and then quickly covered the injury with his hand, "Yep! All good..."

However, she didn't buy it, "Jean... what happened?"

"Okay..." he lowered his hand before continuing, "I guess you can say I sort of got into a tussle with someone..." he didn't want to reveal exactly who so that she wouldn't get upset.

"Jean! Are you crazy?!"

"What? He was being kind of rude..."

(Y/n) crossed her arms, "you haven't changed, have you?"

Jean gave her a pensive look, "maybe not..."

Then it was silent again as (y/n) began to judge him. Maybe it was a mistake coming here. He was still a troublemaker like all those years ago. Jean could pick up on the sudden shift in mood and decided to try and make it better.

"Wanna come in?"

(Y/n) sighed, she really shouldn't but she had come all the way here so she nodded and followed him inside.

She immediately looked around at the beautiful house and how different it was from when she first set foot into it. A sudden rush of memories came flooding back to her as she remembered the last time she was here. She scoped out the area before speaking to Jean, "So... you did all this?"

"Yep... well not by myself, I had help, of course, you like it?"

(Y/n) stepped around the rooms, intrigued by the design. It was everything she had ever expected it to be, including the fine details she told Jean she wanted. She looked out the window in the living room that overlooked the river before speaking, "Yes... it's all I've ever dreamed of..." She was in disbelief that he was able to pull this off.

Jean followed behind her and joined in on looking at the river that glistened in the morning saying, "I did it all... for you."

(Y/n) whipped her head around to him in surprise, her eyebrows raising slightly, "you? You did this all... for me?"

Jean nodded with a small smile, causing her heart to beat just a little quicker.

"Jean..."

"I thought it would bring you back... and I suppose I was right because you are standing right here." He smirked.

"Wow..." she responded, still not believing anything she was hearing.

"Did you eat yet today? Do you want some breakfast?" Jean suddenly asked.

The thought of food made (y/n)'s stomach rumble, she had forgotten she missed a meal that morning. Therefore, she smiled at him, hinting at her want for some good food, which he happily started on. As the smell of eggs wafted throughout the kitchen, (Y/n) sat down at the table in silence, debating whether her current actions were questionable or not. When Jean brought over a plate of toast and eggs, he joined her on the opposite side, admiring how she looked in the morning sun that seeped through the windows. (Y/n) looked up at him and gave a small smile, only to notice the bruise on his face was getting worse.
