5 || Hangovers, Dennys, & New Friends

Me and Alex were frantically rushing around the room to make sure we gathered everything before we left.

I put Carson's sweatpants folded in a neat square on his bed and slipped on my shoes.

I'm keeping this hoodie it's cold out, let's hope he won't mind.

Alex had a marvelous idea of going to Denny's for a hangover breakfast. Honestly, I'm not hungover but if that's what she wants.

I called an Uber so we didn't have to walk an hour plus just to get to the establishment. That's why we're currently in a rush to get out.

It's only 7:30 I doubt Carson is awake so being the kind lady I am I left a note on top of the sweatpants to inform that we left and are incredibly grateful for letting us crash here.

Me and Alex quietly exited the door and jogged over to the Uber sitting at the end of the driveway. I confirm the Uber details and make sure both doors aren't on child lock.

What it's safety rules 101.

We give the man directions to the nearest Denny's from Carson's mansion. And with that, we were on our way.

"Oh my gosh, there are just so many options what do I get?" Alex frantically questions her eyes roaming over the menu at rapid speed.

She finally decided on getting something along the lines of a 'slam packet' with a chocolate milkshake.

since it was my first time here I just got the same order but with a strawberry milkshake.

We continued to joke and laugh until a waiter who seemed to be around our age slid over to our table. "What can I get y'all?" He said with a wink.

Me and Alex stared at him dumbfounded before he burst out laughing. "I- I'm sorry I was dared t-to do that," he said still laughing.

Me and Alex stared at each other before joining him. To others, we probably appeared crazy.

Once we all came down from our laughing fit Alex spoke up, "Your funny I and I'm pretty sure my friend here like you what's your name?" Alex asks.

The boys' eyes widen probably not expecting that before gently smiling, "I'm Mateo nice to meet yall." He says giving us a curt nod.

"Well Mateo we'd love to hang out with you sometime," Alex says and I nod in agreement.

"Well, my break is after this order so why don't I join yall that sound good?" He asks and Alex immediately says yes.

Oh.

I see.

I give him a small smile and he takes our orders.

After he disappears Alex starts gushing over how hot he is, and how his kids would be the cutest little things ever. Her words, not mine.

Her very weird words might I add.

Soon Mateo returns with our food and an extra milkshake that I assume is his. He gives us our plates and shakes before plopping a spot next to Alex.

I can see her visibly blush a light pink sending a nervous smile his way. When her eyes meet mine I smirk making her send me a playful glare.

For the next hour, we eat and talk and just enjoy ourselves. We learned a lot about Mateo, he is Mexican and currently finishing his high school year here.

He's 18 and a senior and goes to our school. When I found this out I was shocked. He also plays soccer just like Alex so they instantly bonded over plays.

I can tell in the time frame Alex and Mateo have really gotten along making me smile. I want the best for my best friend.

"I wish I could stay and talk but I really gotta get back to my shift, but y'all have my number we'll arrange something," Mateo tells us sliding out of the booth and collecting our dishes.

Alex and I also got up not paying the bill as Mateo wouldn't allow us.

I'll still pay him back I feel guilty when I don't.

With one last smile, he walks behind the counter and through the door that reads 'Employees Only' in bold letters.

Me and Alex walk outside and wait for our Uber home.

"He is the sweetest I can't wait to see him again!" Alex says seemingly in a trance. I laugh at her antics just as the Uber pulls up.

I check the details before we hop in. First, we drop Alex and lastly me. My mothers' car is nowhere to be seen indicating she's not home.

I unlock the door and head inside. Heading to the kitchen I grab a water bottle out of the fridge and head upstairs.

I take a big gulp before going to take a shower. While showering I think of the events that occurred in the past 24 hours. And how mad my mom will be for me not coming home last night.

Stepping out of the shower 10 minutes late I slip on some shorts a tank top and Carson's hoodie.

What? it's extremely soft and I like the smell.

Hoping in my bed also known as KJ my first love I turn on my TV and put on a reality show from Hulu.

I soon find myself drifting off to sleep and for some reason thinking about Carson.

This is honestly not really a chapter id call it a filler but yeah.

Chapter 5 is done!
