*Harry's P.o.V*

"We need to find food soon." Kip complains holding out "soon" while clutching his stomach. Everyone else agrees except for Max who is still mourning over Aero and Tally. She may even still be mourning over Lyra.

We did manage to find an abandoned house a day ago but the symbol was, once again, on the house so we agreed to skip it because more than likely the food and water has been poisoned as well. It was hard to let go of this much food and water considering how hungry and parched we are. None of us wanted to take that risk.

Two houses later, and we're still starved. Not so much parched thanks to a river which was a dangerous move to drink from it but we were all so thirsty to even care. Kip found a berry bush with some berries on it for everyone to have at least one or a couple. Max obviously gave one to Lilly.

"We should rest here." Fox says.

"As if more berries are going to grow within a couple of hours." Kay mumbles loud enough for Fox to hear.

"If you all don't want to rest, then say so." Fox commands but the forest is silent. "Okay then, put up the trap Harry." Fox waves me off while I nod my head and get to it.

As I'm tying the rope around a tree, someone clears their throat behind me. I roll my eyes with a sigh and let go of the rope

"Can't you see I'm bus-" I pause once I stand up and turn around. "Sorry. Didn't know it was you Max." I look away.

"It's fine, I understand." She says with her arms crossed while I go back to tying the rope.

"Want to help?" I ask her after awhile of silence and she nods her head yes. I grab her arm and pull her down so she's on her knees.

"Looks fun to tie a rope like that." Max looks over to the rope that's already tied.

"Not really because sometimes they don't like to cooperate. Like this one of course." I give a frustrated laugh as this rope doesn't want to tie.

"Can I try?" Max asks and I hand her the rope immediately to get up to stretch.

"Maybe the rope will listen to you." I chuckle and she just gives me a small smile with a confused look.

"You have to show me first silly."

"Oh, thought you already knew how to." I shrug and kneel back down again.

"What makes you think that?" She asks me with curiosity.

"You're really smart and has seemed to learn a lot of things. That's all."

"You learn everyday and today is just my day to learn how to tie a rope like you." She picks up the rope and hands it to me. "Now show me." She commands with a smile and I grab the rope to show her.

"I did it!" Max yells a little bit too loudly with excitement. "Thank you Harry." She jumps on me to give me a bear hug which takes me by surprise when I fall backwards with her on top of me. After a moment I push her off gently.

"It only took you a half hour to learn it but congratulations." I nod to her with pride while she yawns.

"Thank goodness you showed me how to before we got too tired." She lightly laughs due to tiredness.

"You would think we wouldn't be able to sleep on empty stomachs but we're just that tired." I say and Max nods in agreement.

"Well, goodnight Harry." She gets up with a yawn then heads towards Lilly and lays down.
