We are out of the woods and in front of our faces is a house.
I stop running when we are almost at the house and put out my arm to the side to stop Lilly, she halts after bumping into my arm. "Why are we stopped?" she wonders.
"I need to see if there are any zombies around or in the house." Maybe there is some one in there as well. "Plus there might be some people in there too." Luckily there are no zombies around surprisingly. "Stay here." I tell Lilly and give her the bag so I can go check, and she stays put while I head toward the house.
I patrol the perimeter of the house and so far there is nothing in sight. Outside the garage behind the house there is a old looking car, about fifteen years old. People might be in the house since there is a car. I look inside the windows but it's too dark to look in. The light that is showing is, I'm guessing, in the kitchen and the window is not in reach. I reach the front of the house and stand on the porch. I motion Lilly to come. When she's here I take a chance and knock on the door.
Someone has to be in here since a light is on, and a car is still here. I just hope that whoever is here is welcoming. We don't need anymore trouble and problems than we already have. After about a couple of minutes, and lots of knocking, no one shows up. I look at Lilly and shrug. She looks at the knob, so I reach for it and turn it. The door opens with a creak.
We enter while I tell Lilly to be quiet and follow me. We heads towards the lighted room and I was right, it's a kitchen. We then scout the whole house and there is absolutely no one in here. It seems like that the house has been abandoned for a while now. I wonder why the owners left the light on and didn't take the car. The house is even still furnished. Oh well.
"We should go to sleep now." I announce.
"Max, can't we look what's in the bag now since we have the light?"
"We really shouldn't because the light may attract them. Besides I'm really tired." I say with a yawn. Lilly yawns as well and nods. "We'll have to sleep in the living room just in case something happens and it's closer to the doors. So I'll take the chair and you can take the couch." She puts down the bag and lays down on the couch and yawns again. I turn off the kitchen light and sit in the chair.
"Will you be comfortable in the chair? It looks very uncomfortable." Lilly giggles. I roll my eyes at her. She then gets up from the couch and heads toward me in the dark and some how pulls a lever. "It should be more comfortable now since it reclines." She claps, proud of herself.
"Much more comfortable now." I roll my eyes and shrug. "Goodnight Lilly." I wait for her response but she doesn't for some reason. So I shift in the chair to get comfortable.
"Will we survive?" What? "Well, will we?" She asks again when I didn't respond right away. How do I respond to this in the least scariest way?
"Maybe." I say, highly doubt it. I hope I didn't scare her.
"Oh." I'm surprised at her answer. I shift in my chair to face her. Even though I can't see her at all.
"Well," I pause thinking of what to say. "We will all die sooner or later anyways." She hums yes.
"Well I don't want to die like this."
"Like what?"
"Like, I want to die old. Not murdered by zombies." True.
"Well I would like to die in my sleep. When I'm old preferably." We both laugh. "But if we die tomorrow or whenever, oh well I guess."
"How about we don't die tomorrow, only when we are old." I can hear the smile in her.
