“It means,” He tilted his head closer to her, “that you are unforgettable, Nayab.”

That made her inhale loudly. Nobody had ever said anything like that to her ever before. She had thought of herself as a plain, boring girl all her life. She was a wallflower. And on the other hand was Danish, handsome and confident. He was the kind that made heads turn every time he entered a room. And he called her unforgettable.

Her poor heart couldn’t bear to look into his eyes anymore, so she lowered her head.

“Nayab?” He called her again.

She hummed, still not looking up.

“Dance with me?” He politely asked.

And she was at a loss of words yet again. She looked at him first before looking in front of her where several couples were swaying in each other's arms to the lost piano that was playing.

“I..uh,” She struggled with her words, “I am sorry, I can’t.” She left the table immediately and started walking towards where Simran was.

“He asked me to dance with him.” Nayab spoke as soon as she dragged Simran in one corner.

“What? What did you say?” Simran was excited.

“I said no.”

“Why on earth would you say no?” Now Simran was mad.

“I don’t know. He caught me off-guard. There were so many people on the dance floor, I got shy. And not to forget, he had already stumped me by calling me unforgettable a few minutes ago.”

Simran’s eyes were popping out. “You said no to a guy who called you unforgettable? What is wrong with you?”

That made Nayab bite her lips. “Was that rude? It was rude, wasn’t it?”

“I thought we agreed on going with the flow.”

“It is easier said than done.” Nayab snapped and walked off, yet again.

She contemplated going back to her room since she was too embarrassed to face him again. But then she changed her mind and went towards the buffet to get herself another bowl of brownie with ice cream. It was her favorite after all.

Slowly, the night started to end and guests decided to leave. By the time Nayab finished her four bowls of dessert, she was cursing herself mentally for denying him. And she was cursing the scientists for not having invented a time machine yet so that she could’ve gone back in time and taken the opportunity to dance with him.
