“Hey, do you think I’d be back to my normal figure by the time of your and Danish’s wedding?” Simran asked while munching on her nachos.
Nayab’s head snapped at her best friend. “What?”
“What?” Simran asked.
“My and Danish’s wedding?” Nayab raised an eyebrow.
Simran rolled her eyes. “I believed you when you said that what you and he had in Andaman was just a fling. But not anymore, girl! Cause you and I both know you’re marrying this man.”
Nayab used every fiber in her being to stop herself from blushing and shook her head. “Stop talking rubbish and help me with this saree.”
“Yes, saree.” Simran looked up and down her best friend through her laptop screen. Nayab was standing in a blouse and underskirt. “You’re getting ready to go to a wedding with whom again?” Simran teased her.
Glaring at her, Nayab started draping the saree.
“Should I pleat the pallu or leave it open?” She asked.
“Umm,” Simran took another bite. “Leave it open.”
“Okay,” Nayab secured the pallu with a safety pin and checked the phone. “He is going to be here any minute now. See you later.”
The girls gave each other a few flying kisses and hung up. Then Nayab wore her necklace, earrings and a few rings. Finally it was time to pick footwear. She had recently bought a pair of heels online, and thought it’d be the perfect occasion to christen it. As she was wearing it, she heard the doorbell go off.
She finished wearing the heels quickly and rushed out of her bedroom. Just before reaching the main door, she slipped.
“Owww,” She gasped and held the doorknob thankfully to save herself from falling.
“What happened?” Danish asked when the door was opened. “I heard you scream.”
“Nothing, I just slipped.” She waved it off, “Let me get my clutch and we can leave.”

When they reached the venue, Danish said to her, “You wander around. Get something to eat. I’ve to go and check with the team to make sure everything is running smoothly.”
She gave him an unsure look. “I don’t know anyone here. What if they think I am gatecrashing the wedding?”
He smiled at her innocent fear. “No one is going to do that. And if anything happens, call me.” He gave her right arm a light squeeze. “And anyway I won’t be gone long. Half an hour max. Go and enjoy the food, I will find you.”
