Danish dimmed the lights of the living room before walking towards the couch where Nayab was waiting for him. On the table were two pizzas, one with all the veggies he’d gotten and the second with the chicken toppings. Cheese was still bubbling lightly on top of them.
The huge window in the room was open, letting in the moonlight and the cold breeze inside the room.
“I guess it's going to rain.” Nayab said as Danish sat down beside her.
He smiled looking at the weather. “Maybe Allah wanted to make our date more romantic.”
“How can you turn every conversation cheesy?” She grinned, picked up a slice of the farmhouse pizza and took a bite.
“With you by my side, trust me, it is very easy.” He replied while forwarding his hand to wipe off the cheese that had smudged on the corner of her mouth.
They continued to have their dinner with conversation flowing freely between them. After the pizza on the table vanished into their stomachs, he stood up to clear the plates and returned with two bowls of brownie with ice cream.
She grinned huge at the sight of her favorite dessert and raised her hand to grab one bowl. But he was quick to further it from her. She looked at him with a small pout. “What do I get in return?” He asked.
She raised an eyebrow. “The joy of watching me eat something I love.”
That made him crack up. He’d never get over the fact that the shy, introverted, socially awkward Nayab was so sassy and comfortable around him. He considered it an exceptional accomplishment.
“Kiss me!” He said to her.
That shut her up very quickly and made her eyes widen. “Wh-what?”
“Nayab,” He whispered and leaned closer. “Kiss me, darling.”
She bit her lips as she watched him inch closer to her face with every passing second. When their warm breaths started mingling, he forgot that his hands that were holding the bowls had come within her reach as well. She moved her body forward. He thought she was coming to kiss her, but instead she grabbed one bowl from his hand and moved back on the couch.
She laughed at his shocked face before scooping a huge bite and putting it in her mouth.
“That’s not fair.” He complained like a child and started eating his dessert.
Within ten minutes, their bowls were empty.
“I will clean the dishes.” She said and wore her slippers.
