TWO WEEKS LATER
Upper East Side, NEW YORKEven if I grew up and spent majority of my childhood in London, I have always loved living in New York. My father owns a few buildings here and Latsis' Americas HQ is located just right across Bryant Park.
It's a long day for me. I was getting ready for a gala in Rhode Island to launch my newest venture, luxury hotels, when I stumbled upon a Sky interview of Lando. It was his first interview since the accident and the video included moments of him with Olivia. I was too focused on the video that I did not hear Annie walk in.
"Selene..." I heard Annie say, which prompted me to look at the time.
"Just two more minutes, Annie. I'll head down after..."
"How long will you do this?" Annie sounded exhausted and worried.
"What? "
"Watch his races, watch his interviews? See them together. How long will you do this?"
I wiped my tears before it ruined my make up.
"Until it doesn't hurt anymore." I whispered before I stood up and looked for my clutch. I was startled when I noticed Annie was not alone.
Lando was standing next to her. His deep emerald eyes staring at me.
I paused and gasped. I dropped my clutch and was immobilized for a few seconds. He heard me.
"Annie..." I looked at her seeking an explanation on why she had to ask me those questions knowing he was there listening.
Annie just gave me her classic, "you'll thank me later" nod.
"I'll leave you two. We have around 15 minutes to spare."

He stood there with his crutches and was just looking at me intently, never blinking.
"Lando?"
"In the flesh" he replied without breaking our stare.
"What? i mean why are you here?"
He let out a sigh. "You know why."
Without having to explain I knew what he meant.
I held my tears. I folded my arms protectively over my chest, absently rubbing them with my hands in an attempt to ease the tension.
"No, I don't.".
I looked at him and I just couldn't speak. I felt so vulnerable and I hated it. I knew Lando sensed it so he asked the question again.
"Why do you think I'm here, Selene?"
"I don't know."
"I've risked my career, my life, i went off tangent because I loved you. Meanwhile you knew you loved me too, yet you chose to leave." He sensed I was really anxious that he softened his tone.
