Read at your own risk. The occasion commenced with the introductions, and proceeded to the performances, ending with the grand feast. Some remained eating and chattering over the tables while the rest enjoyed the center dance floor.
Interestingly, Bonten's glares diverted to Calista who seemed to be enjoying herself, not even realizing the people around her's already annoyed with her.
I now understand why they couldn't fully force this girl out. It's because she's the precious daughter of one of the famous guests.
I involuntarily pouted, watching her laughing beside Mikey even though she's not even given a single span of attention by him.
"Dellie, you're..."
I turned to Ran whose eyes went soft. He confused me when he grasped the massive napkin on the table. Ran folded it thrice and then damped and enveloped it around my shoulder.
"You're bleeding..." Ran uttered, eyes focused on my wound 'til he finished wrapping it.
"Oh."
"Does it hurt?"
I shook my head, smiling. "No... Thank you, Ran."
He avoided eye contact, proceeding with his meal. "Bonten's woman shouldn't be wounded."
"I think that's ironic," I replied, now making him look at me. I sort of snorted. "Anyways, it's not like that small wound's a big deal."
'Cause I have other wounds—bigger wounds that hurt more.
Rindou arbitrarily put his hand over my wrist. "Delle." He laughed through his nose. I raised a brow at him. Rindou used his chin to point my plate. "You're killing the meat twice."
"Huh? Ah." I didn't realized I've cut the meat to bits now that it's impossible to eat it using a fork. "Ah, haha. I was too, uh..."
"Too jealous?" Koko appeared from behind, his face literally beside mine. I froze in place. "Don't worry about that girl, ms. perfect," he whispered. "You're still Bonten's woman."
"It's because she's an asset," Takeomi-san said as he leaned over to my chair. "That woman. She's just an asset for the business. Nothing more."
"More like a liability." Mochi's serious voice sprung from my left side. "She's honestly a headache to me," he complained, looking at her before facing me. "You're more amusing, Phoenix Crown."
