In the moments I had thought you'd lose me, it's always I, who'd lose you first.
I said to myself I wouldn't cry, and I didn't.
I only stared at my hospital ceiling for the rest of the days I remained there, lying like a mentally disturbed person in comatose, wondering what it's like to just be... a bird in the sky.
At the slightest shift of my thoughts, I was grounded back to reality.
The reality that Mikey and Michi are dead.
The reality that I lost them both at the same time.
I lost them while I was unconscious in the hospital.
I lost the two important people in my life who I thought I was protecting but couldn't.
I could almost laugh how useless I can be.
"I'm glad you're okay..."
Today's two weeks after.
I'm in front of the person who almost shot me to death. The person whose eyes' appeared beaten. I know he's been having rough nights, regretting his reckless actions. I could see him holding back tears.
"I'm sorry," Elias confessed. "That time, when I... I saw you bleeding to death, I—"
"It doesn't matter now," I spoke.
He looked away, suffering.
I'm sorry to cut your emotional moment, Elias, but I'm not really in the mood to acknowledge your feelings.
I don't hate him. I just don't feel like speaking about it. My chest's already heavy. I can't let anything inside anymore or I'll blow up.
"If you really mean it," I continued, trying to take the opportunity. "I need you to do something for me."
His face was filled with curiosity, but it didn't last when he realized. Elias, sitting on his couch, tilted his head down. He's in suspension right now, but I'll be needing him to investigate.
"Is this about Manjiro and your other cousin?" He asked. I gave a nod. "If that's that, I can help you contact the lead officer in charge of this."
"Who?"
"Tachibana Naoto."
Right. It was Naoto-kun that time as well. Hm. Looks like he's really deeply involved in this issue.
"Alright. Contact him right away."
Elias agreed, and boy was he reliable, seeing Naoto now standing at the door 15 minutes later.
"You're here. Naoto-kun." He nodded back. "Thanks for coming."
Naoto's really an adult now, huh. He's professional and mature-looking in his officer uniform, and really striking I must say. A lot has changed indeed. Including the way his expression shifted from adoration to dissatisfaction.
