His face remained the same, but his voice... it sounded like he's in pain, and that he couldn't scream it so he tried whispering it.

"After all that had happened to you," Mikey continued, allowing me to feel his sadness. "Why are you still worried about me? Why do you care? What's in it for you?"

"I just..."

I couldn't answer his "Whys", after all, he's right. It's not smart to still cling to him, knowing he's a criminal and that he doesn't care about me anymore.

It's stupid to love someone who doesn't even love you... was people usually say.

But is it really stupid?

Is it bad to care for someone you love?

Because I don't think so.

"I just... care about you." I tried to form a smile. "Can't that reason be enough? For you to realize you don't have to do anything for me to care for you?"

"..."

"My heart's already too broken, Mikey," I honestly stated. "I was already hurt. I was just trying to calm the chaos inside of me. I was doing my best to befriend the monsters in me."

I took one step forward, dazing at him.

"I was alone... I was lonely." I carefully held his hand, recalling our last meeting in the past. "But you were there, weren't you? I didn't notice it at first, but... being with you gives me peace, Mikey."

"And is the violence I've shown you still not enough proof that I can't give you the peace that you needed?" Mikey asked.

"I never said what you did was forgivable and that I wasn't hurt," I rebutted, surprising him. "But I also never said I'd stop caring for you. You're... you're just pushing me away again, Mike—"

"Don't you understand that I don't care about you?" He answered back with words that'll make my heart bleed. "I don't care about you," he repeated like he meant it this time. "Like you said, I'm not the same person you know anymore, and I never will be."
