At Tory's mention of both Miguel and Kyler's loss to him in the same sentence, Kyler felt anger replace his initial arrogant attitude and glared at her. "You know what? At least I'm still here. Half the squad quit!"
I know precisely what would make me officially quit Cobra Kai and leave it behind for good.
Basically, it'd be after I realize all my true friends were gone and it's just Kyler and a bunch of other goons in their stead. Also, I'd tell myself, the best way to betray Cobra Kai would be to switch sides as Hawk did during the LaRusso house fight.
However, if I found out Hawk had stolen the Medal of Honor, I might have left earlier then, too.
Of course, another reason for my leaving Cobra Kai would be my noticing there's some weird karate cult gang war going on (which I'd do my best to stay away from, since I'd want no part of such things and prefer focusing on myself).
Since I basically choose "better safe than sorry" any day, I'd have the strong desire to join Miyagi-Fang Karate — mostly because of how Miyagi-Fang's lessons are free compared to Cobra Kai (along with how I'd want to proverbially save my money for a rainy day), and partly because the students of Cobra Kai would be total pricks who'd make sure to go after me for either confidently choosing to say "no" if they attempted to lure me into joining their ranks in the first place, or taking a page from Hawk's book by deciding to switch sides and betray them.
(Of course, Hawk would assure me I did the right thing in betraying Cobra Kai by switching sides like he did, and for a good cause too. However, I'd agree with Hawk when he'd tell me I'd be putting a target on my back in doing so, as Cobra Kai doesn't take betrayal lightly. But he'd also assure me he can relate since he did something similar after he felt his conscience re-emerging and saw he'd become the bully he strongly disliked. Plus, I'd agree with Hawk about how being a bully is something he wouldn't want for anyone — especially me.)
When word of my staying out of the karate cult gang war (thus showing how it's better to be safe than sorry) spreads through pieces of grapevine gossip via word of mouth, the students of Miyagi-Fang find me and inform me about it. I admit, "Let me guess — you guys are initially not proud of me because of my having been in Cobra Kai?"
Demetri speaks for both himself and the Miyagi-Fangs when he replies with, "Well, on the one hand, we are disappointed in you. You were foolish to join Cobra Kai." He then smiles as Hawk adds, "But on the other hand, we're kind of impressed, and proud. You showed a lot of courage in switching sides and betraying Cobra Kai like I did."
When they hear of my desire to join Miyagi-Fang, they then welcome me with open arms.
"Welcome home," Hawk whispers in my ear.
"Now you're safely where you belong, and you won't have to worry about being treated like a soldier either," Demetri nods in agreement.
